A vibratory therapeutic pad has an armature lying in a central plane, composed of a plurality of resilient ferrous metal strips each overlapping the next and encased in a body of foam-type material attached to the armature strips by adhesive. The over-lapped parts of adjacent strips are also adherent to each other. This assembly of the armature embedded in the compliant foam body is inserted within an outer assembly comprising a sheet over which a coil is wound with foam material around the outside of the coil. Adhesive holds the coil conductors to the sheet and to the foam body. The pad can be bent or shaped to fit various parts of the human body and the vibration of the armature is substantially noiseless. Application of alternating current to the coil produces an alternating magnetic field through the armature which causes the armature strips to vibrate, and heat is produced to an extent permitted by thermostats in the circuit of the coil.
This invention relates to electroacoustic transducers of the type which incorporate a reed armature. Thus a transducer 10 comprises a coil 12, magnets 13,14, pole pieces 15,16 and a reed armature 17, which passes through a central tunnel 18 defined the coil. A central portion 19 of the reed 17 lies within the tunnel and has opposed formation 20,21 which limit the possible deflection of the reed 17. Other deflection limiting arrangements are described.
A therapeutic impact massager for massaging a body region of a person. The impact massager includes a frame mounted within a flexible fabric support member. The frame includes a plurality of compartments that movably receive conductive elements. Drive coils are mounted within the compartments adjacent to the conductive elements and produce a first pulsed magnetic field. The first pulsed magnetic field induces a second magnetic field within the conductive elements. The first and second magnetic fields interact to force the conductive elements towards the body region of a person to impact thereupon. A capacitor for storing electrical energy is coupled to the drive coils. A switch is coupled in series with the capacitor and drive coils and is movable between the closed state which allows electrical energy to flow from the capacitor to the drive mechanism, and an open state which prevents the discharge of electrical energy through the drive coils. A microprocessor is coupled to the switch and generates a logic command that shifts the switch between opened and closed states. The microprocessor is configured to energize the drive coils in a periodic and patterned manner to repeatedly force the conductive elements toward the body region which imparts a rhythmic wave massaging effect thereto. The impact massager preferably is in the form of a therapeutic garment that overlies the chest and back of a wearer. The therapeutic garment is designed to be used by persons with cystic fibrosis to alleviate the accumulation of mucus within the lungs.
A therapeutic wrist device is provided having a body made of foam or other soft material. At least one cavity is provided in the body for housing an electrical vibrating device. Electrical heating elements are also incorporated in the body. A control unit is provided for controlling the vibrating devices and heating elements. The wrist device may be used with a computer keyboard and one mode of operation elevates the side of the keyboard closest to the user so that the keyboard slopes away from the user.
A multi-functional automatic circular massaging device including at least a pair of motors respectively disposed in a pair of housings to rotatively drive cams for creating a vibrating massaging effect, a soft pad formed with two lateral recesses for receiving the housings, a heating coil sandwiched between two layers of unwoven fabrics, a surface layer covering the soft pad, and a controlling box connected to the motors and an external power source. The surface layer is formed with alternating X-shaped protuberances and spherical bosses and alternating long and short rod-like protuberances disposed on four side edges of the surface layer. The controlling box includes a circuit board having a specific chip which controls the motors to output varying power at a predetermined time interval, creating sequential automatic circularly varying at least eight stages of massaging effect from strongest stage to weakest stage. A setting key of the controlling box is used to vary and fix the time interval for each of the eight stages. A heating key is used to activate the heating coil for creating heating effect. The massaging device is suitable to be disposed in both back cushion and seat cushion of a seat.
