The harvest of fruit from bearing trees and plants is facilitated by application of effective concentrations of 4,5-dibromothiophene-2-carboxylic acid.
A composition and a method for regulating the plant-metabolism, especially for promoting the abcission of citrus fruit and olives are disclosed, which use as active component a sulphonyl ester of the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is an alkyl, alkenyl, phenyl naphthyl, diphenyl or thienyl radical, X is oxygen or sulphur and Hal is a halogen atom.
