Abstract
A subscription television is disclosed wherein both subscription and non-subscription television system signals are distributed by a cable distribution system to a plurality of switching stations. Subscriber demand signals generated within one or more subscriber locations are detected within the switching station to couple subscription signals to the corresponding subscriber drops. Periodic interrogation signals cause the switching station to generate a return signal indicative of the presence of subscriber demand signals.

4605973 - System, apparatus and method for recording and editing broadcast transmissions

A remote recording and editing system for use with a transmitter of broadcast programs, including both television and radio programs, provides for the monitoring of the broadcast transmissions of the transmitter and the generation of recording and editing command signals. The command signals are broadcast from a central station to receiving stations, such as homes having television sets, to permit editing of the broadcast transmissions during the presentation of a program on home television sets and during recording of the program. The television receiver, as well as the recording apparatus, is provided with an inhibiting circuit, responsive to the command signals, for accomplishing the editing by the deletion of unwanted material. The circuits inhibit the presentation of the program as well as the recording of the program. A person in the central station monitors the television program and activates a generator of the command signals to provide for the selective recording and editing of the programs. A delay unit delays presentation of the program to provide time for response by the monitoring person. Individual programs can be selected for recording and/or editing and specific types of material can be deleted during the editing.

3990012 - Remote transceiver for a multiple site location in a two-way cable television system - Owned by TOCOM, Inc. (Dallas, TX)

A remote transceiver for a two-way cable television system includes a main receiving, transmitting and logic control unit coupled to a plurality of locally remote control units through a plurality of supplemental tuning and logic sections. A receiver in the main unit acts as the interface between the remote transceiver and a cable network through which interrogation, command and program signals generated from a central or master data station are received. The interrogation and command signals are fed to a main digital logic control section, which controls a transmitter for transmitting data via the cable network to the master station. The television program signals are coupled to a plurality of television receivers each through one of the supplemental tuning and logic sections. Each local remote control unit is coupled to one of the supplemental tuning and logic sections to control each television receiver independently and provide data from each locally remote location to the main digital section. Each locally remoted control unit may be located in a different part of a multiple-site location, for example, in one apartment of an apartment complex. Alarms or other information generating devices at each site may be coupled to the main unit for monitoring by the central data station.

4064460 - Coaxial wired broadcasting system with tone responsive program selectors - Owned by Communications Patents Limited (Kingston-upon-Thames,GB)

A wired broadcasting system is provided which comprises a wideband coaxial cable for carrying multi-channel programme signals from at least one programme source to a plurality of exchanges to each of which a plurality of subscriber units are connected. The programme source provides signals on the cable stacked one upon the other in frequency. Each exchange comprises in respect of each subscriber a switchable frequency translator for selectively translating any one of the said stacked frequency signals to a predetermined other frequency which the subscriber unit is adapted to receive, switching means controllable from the respective subscriber unit to selectively switch the frequency translator, and an output circuit arranged to apply the said predetermined other frequency signal to a feeder cable to which the subscriber is connected.

4745478 - RF switch - Owned by Nintendo Co., Ltd. (Kyoto,JP)

An RF switch comprises a housing in which a board is contained. To the board, two input ends connected respectively to an F-connector and an RCA plug and one output end connected to an antenna terminal of a TV receiver by an F-plug are connected. On the board, high-pass filters connected in a cascade fashion are formed, of which input is connected to one input end connected to the F-connector. The filter in each stage is earthed at the output side thereof through corresponding switching transistors. When a power switch of a main unit of a picture processing apparatus is turned on, a superposed signal of a DC signal and an RF signal is given to the remaining input end from the main unit through the RCA plug and a coaxial cable. In the RF switch, the DC signal is taken out from the superposed signal, thereby respective switching transistors are turned on. Accordingly, a TV signal from a TV antenna is flown into the earth, while the RF signal from the main unit it given to the output end through a diode biased in a forward direction by the DC signal. When the power switch of the main unit is in "off", the high-pass filters will not be inactivated and the TV signal from the TV antenna is thus given to the output end.
