An indicia display unit comprises an inner wheel bearing a number of indicia, the number being represented by an integer X, and an outer wheel bearing a number of indicia equal to nX where n is an integer. The outer wheel is also formed with a display window. The inner wheel is nestingly fitted within the outer wheel, and its indicia position is aligned with an indicia position on the outer wheel. The inner wheel is adapted to be driven for one cycle which includes (n + 1) revolutions. During the initial n revolutions of the inner wheel, the outer wheel is concurrently driven for rotation therewith to present successive indicias thereon for display. On the (n + 1)-th revolution of the inner wheel, the window in the outer wheel is interrupted to permit the display of successive indicia on the inner wheel by allowing the rotation of the latter alone.
A twenty-four hour digital display in which the numerals for the display are carried by a 1-hour barrel and a 10-hour barrel which are stepped by a stepping device. A steppable visor driven in steps by the 10-hour barrel covers part of the time the 1-hour barrel which has a function of the time display. The visor itself carries numerals for indicating single-digit hours. The stepping device includes a gearing and a shaft which serves simultaneously as a locking device for the two barrels.
A clock which includes a member which rotates in a time dependent manner and which has a substantially cylindrical periphery about the axis of generation which has disposed thereabout two axially spaced sets of clockwise sequenced indicia indicative of the time, the two sets being out of phase about the periphery by the angle .alpha. with one set having the indicia inverted relative to the other, the member being so arranged within a housing that a sight element disposed about the periphery can indicate on the appropriate indicia the particular time. Ideally the angle .alpha. is 180.degree.. The invention also consists of a device to convert a conventional clock to such a multi-faceted display.
A first rotating display means having indicia on its outer periphery, rotates within and in synchronization with a second rotating display means having indicia and a window on its outer periphery, the indicia for the first display means being visible through the window at selected times.
A position encoder has a plurality of measured value embodying carriers mechanically coupled so that those of lower position value drive those of higher position value. The carriers contain encoding step markings (n,m) in which n is the number of encoding step markings per position and m is a whole, even number. For a decade encoder, n equals 10 and m equals 2.
