A coupling for pivotally releasably interconnecting a windshield wiper blade with an oscillating arm having a U-shaped end, includes a U-shaped resilient member having a base pivotally connected to the back mounting of the windshield wiper blade. A back portion of the coupling member extends from the base thereof, and a front portion is connected to the end of the back portion away from the base portion. A projection on the outer side of the back portion engages an aperture in the end of the U-shaped oscillating arm, with the front portion of the coupling member resiliently engaging the inside of the oscillating arm. The coupling member is provided with side ribs engaging the sides of the oscillating arm, and a spherical projection on the outside of its front portion.
A side mounting wiper blade is attached to a "shepherd's crook" wiper arm by means of an adaptor. The adaptor comprises a body shaped to fit against the arm and to receive the lateral pin of the wiper blade, and a single releasable latch member serving to lock the body to the pin and to the arm.
The invention relates to a windshield wiper, having a drivably supported wiper arm which on its free end carries a wiper blade, and the wiper blade is joined detachably and pivotably to the wiper arm by means of a retaining bracket, and for the sake of adapting different wiper arms and retaining brackets, the connection is made via an adapter element. The point of departure for the proposal is that the adapter element (28) can be disposed pivotably about 180.degree., and for the detachable and pivotable connection between the wiper arm (12) and the retaining bracket (22) a detent connection exists both between the adapter element (28) and the wiper arm (12) and between the adapter element (28) and the retaining bracket (22).
An improved adaptor is provided for connecting a hook-end wiper arm to a pin-type connector on a wiper blade. The adaptor includes a double-ended pin with one end being removably insertable in a pin-type connector of the wiper blade and with the other end of the pin being gripped by a U-shaped leaf spring or a U-shaped plastic body. The U-shaped spring and U-shaped plastic body have lugs for engaging in an aperture in the end portion of a hook-end wiper arm to removably retain the arm on the adaptor.
A windshield wiper frame connector for windshield wipers comprising an arrangement for receiving multiple hook-type wiper arms; thereby improving on the versatility and interchangeability of the wiper blades.
