Disclosed is a composition of matter consisting of the juice of the medicinal plant Aloe arborescens, extracted by a novel method in pure unadulterated bees-honey, useful in the treatment and relief of respiratory diseases, affecting cures of clinical symptoms in acute cases, and achieving considerable improvement in chronic cases. The composition is taken orally by the patient, and with a unit dosage form the treatment is continued until the desired results are achieved. The method of preparation is described in detail.
This is a continuation-in-part application of the application for the granting of Letters Patent Ser. No. 694,394, filed Dec. 29, 1967, now in the process of being appealed to the United States Court of Customs and Patent Appeals. Application Ser. No. 694,394 itself was a continuation-in-part application of application for Letters Patent, Ser. No. 510,396, filed Nov. 29, 1965, which in itself was a continuation-in-part application of the original application for Letters Patent, Ser. No. 690,450, of the 1950 series filed on Oct. 16, 1957 all of which are now abandoned. Thus the instant application claims the priority dates of Oct. 16, 1957, Nov. 29, 1965, and Dec. 29, 1967.
A decongestant is disclosed consisting essentially of active components of from about 2 g to about 10 g of vegetable oil, from about 0.1 g to about 5 g of aloe vera, from about 3 mg to about 150 mg of zinc, from about 10 mg to about 1000 mg of vitamin C, from about 2,000 USP Units to about 70,000 USP Units of vitamin A, from about 20 IU to about 500 IU of vitamin E, from about 10 mg to about 300 mg of vitamin B-6, from about 50 mcg to about 2000 mcg of biotin, and from about 0.3 g to about 2 g of fruit pectin, per about 1 liter of the decongestant. The balance is carriers and solvents. The zinc is supplied as one or more therapeutic compounds of zinc.
A process for manufacturing a health-supplementary food containing aloe as an active ingredient, including, in the order recited, the steps of washing aloe, fresh leaf vegetables including kale, root vegetables including carrot, and fruit including tomato thoroughly with water; pulverizing from 70 to 85 wt. % of aloe, from 10 to 20 wt. % of leaf vegetables including kale, from 5 to 15 wt. % of root vegetables and fruit including, respectively, carrot and tomato, into pieces having a length of 2 cm or less using a chopper to provide a pulverized mixture; mixing sugar with the pulverized mixture to provide a sugar concentration for the mixture of from 15 to 37.5 Brix; innoculating the mixture with from 2 to 5% by weight of a starter per 100% by weight of total starting materials, the starter having been cultured from a strain of Lactobacillus family grown in an MRS medium, in a fermenter at a temperature ranging from 20.degree. to 35.degree. C.; fermenting the mixture for from 48 to 96 hours, stopping fermentation when the mixture has a pH ranging from 3.2 to 3.7; squeezing the mixture using a press to obtain a fermented liquid, admixing additional sugar with the fermented liquid until homogenized to maintain the sugar concentration at a range of from 50 to 60 Brix; and aging the mixture at room temperature for several months.
Therapeutic composition for the alleviation and curing of poison oak irritation and inflammation, respectively of the skin and/or mucous membranes. The medicant is composed of an aqueous extract from the leaves and buds of Ceanothus thyrsiflorus, otherwise known as California Lilac. The extract is prepared by steeping the leaves and buds in hot water.
Processes for producing aloe extracts including the separation of the leaves of the aloe plant into distinct portions.
