Abstract
A holder includes a first clamp and a second clamp, the first clamp having a first extension and the second clamp having a second extension, and gripping means having an opening defined therein for receiving the first and second extensions. The opening within the gripping means is of variable size so as to permit rotation of the first and second clamps when the opening is not constricted and to prevent rotation of either the first or second clamps when the opening is constricted, means also being provided to vary the size of the opening within the gripper means. Frictionless washers are interposed between the gripping means and the clamps and the extensions are spaced from each other, even when assembled, so as to facilitate the angular adjustment of the clamps and the workpieces held thereby, the stable support of the device nevertheless being maintained due to the interaction between the gripping means and the clamp extensions.

5167466 - Clamping apparatus

A clamping apparatus has a first clamping device, a second clamping device, and a coupling device engaged therebetween. The first clamping device has a cylindrical socket extending therefrom and the second clamping device has a threaded flange portion extending therefrom. The coupling device is ring-shaped and has a innerly threaded receiving hole formed in one side thereof and a through hole formed in another side thereof, the two holes communicating with each other. The cylindrical socket of the first clamping device is inserted into the through hole of the coupling device while the threaded flange portion of the second clamping device is inserted into the receiving hole of the coupling device, thereby engaging the first clamping device and the second clamping device together and maintaining a specific axial relationship therebetween. The axial relationship of the first clamping device and the second clamping device is adjustable to another bearing relation.

5116008 - Adjustable support assembly - Owned by Edgewater Medical Equipment Systems, Inc. (Bedford Heights, OH)

An adjustable clamping assembly is disclosed that includes first and second blocks each having a passageway through which support rods are inserted. The blocks may be rotated relative to each other. In one embodiment, each block has a slot extending from one face of each block to the passageway housing the support rod. The second block includes a frusto-conical seat for receiving a frusto-conical bearing member of the first block. A partially threaded stem extends from the first block coaxial with the bearing member and is inserted through an aperture in the second block. The stem is inserted within the tapped portion of a handle for adjusting the tightness of the assembly. As the handle is tightened the slots compress thereby securing the support rods in a fixed position within the passageways. In another embodiment, the first block includes a set screw instead of the slot for securing the support rod in a fixed position. The support rod has a flat portion so that when the set screw is adjusted away from the rod it may rotate about its longitudinal axis. A bushing may be provided in the passageway of the first block to facilitate rotation of the rod. In yet another embodiment, the first block includes a recess for receiving one end of the support rod so the rod is substantially parallel with the stem of the first block. A set screw is provided to secure the rod within the recess.

5836026 - Orthopedic trapeze with self-locking rotatable mechanism

An orthopedic trapeze for a hospital bed for use with an overhead frame bar. The orthopedic trapeze includes an upper base assembly mounted on the overhead frame bar, a lower base assembly attached to the upper base assembly. The upper base assembly can slide linearly upon the overhead frame bar, the lower base assembly can rotate 360 degrees in a horizontal plane with respect to the upper base assembly, and the trapeze bar can slide linearly within the lower base assembly, giving the trapeze handle the ability to be positioned anywhere over the hospital bed, including the ability to be positioned past the edges of the bed. In the absence of any external weight on the trapeze handle the lower base assembly and trapeze bar and trapeze handle will rotate freely, while a weight placed on the trapeze handle will lock the lower base assembly in position. A patient can therefore position the trapeze handle at any desired location.

4901970 - Fishing pole holder with universally adjustable mount

There is disclosed a fishing pole holder having a tubular sleeve to receive the butt end of a fishing pole and a mounting bracket secured to the sleeve with an adjustable directional plate. The sleeve has a stud with at least one flatted surface which is received in a central, multi-flatted aperture of a mounting clamp, thereby permitting the clamp to be indexed to any of a plurality of orientations on the mounting stud. The directional block is removably secured to the mounting block which is one member of a clamp formed of two blocks. Each of the blocks of the clamp has a central V-groove and these V-grooves are opposed to define a clamp passage therebetween.

5017038 - Clamping apparatus - Owned by Yamaha Corporation (Hamamatsu,JP)

A clamping apparatus includes two tightening tools and a connecting unit. Each tightening tool has a base plate, a press plate, and an urging unit for tightening the base plate and the press plate while a member to be clamped is clamped therebetween. The connecting unit connects the tightening tools with the base plates facing in opposite directions so that the tightening tools can freely pivot relative to each other.
