Abstract
A tank of relatively thin wall construction, and which is provided with a plurality of exterior reinforcing vertical and horizontal rib members, and in which the tank itself is of a generally rectangular shape in cross section, having a flat bottom, an upwardly arched roof, and inwardly arched side walls, the ribs extending completely around the tank at spaced intervals along its length, and being arranged in such a manner that the hydrostatic pressures developed in the tank will be resisted by bending stresses in the vertical ribs, and tensile stresses in the horizontal ribs, and in which provision is made for lengthwise expansion and contraction of the tank.

5244110 - Heated transport tank - Owned by Westerwalder Eisenwerk Gerhard GmbH (DE)

In a heated transport tank, the lower zone of the tank jacket 10 is surrounded by an outer shell 15 spaced from the jacket by socket-type projections 16 integrally formed in the shell 15. The outer shell 15, which forms a vapour flow chamber 20, extends throughout the axial length of the tank. At an intermediate location, where the tank is supported by a transverse bar 11 of a base structure via a transverse saddle 25, the socket-type projections 16 are reinforced by spacers inserted between the tank jacket 10 and the shell 15, each spacer being formed as a stack of comparatively thin annular discs. The individual discs are capable of conforming themselves to the local curvature of the tank jacket 10 and following instantaneous variations in curvature, thereby ensuring a uniform distribution of forces under all load conditions.

7370491 - Method and apparatus for water dispensing systems within a refrigerator - Owned by General Electric Company (Schenectady, NY)

A fluid storage tank includes a wall defining a cavity therewithin. An inlet opening is formed through the wall and provides communication between a fluid source and the cavity. A projection and at least one obstruction are positioned within the cavity. The projection directs a flow of a fluid entering the cavity through the inlet opening towards the obstruction. The obstruction interferes with and disperses the flow within the cavity. An outlet opening is formed through the wall and provides communication between the cavity and a fluid dispenser.

4709723 - Septic tank for alternative sewer systems - Owned by Hancor, Inc. (Findlay, OH)

A corrugated plastic side wall (A) extends from a bottom area (14) to an apex area (12). A riser (B) extends from the apex area above the ground level. A ring of steel channel (10) is fastened around the apex area to prevent the apex area from becoming distorted when the soil in which the tank is buried becomes water-laden. A tank bottom wall (122) is domed inward to inhibit exterior hydraulic pressure from flexing the bottom inward and from urging the corrugated side walls adjacent the bottom to compress to a smaller diameter in an accordion-like fashion. Downward projecting can (124) and boxes (126) extend from the domed bottom surface to a flat plane to prevent the dome from flexing outward under the weight of sewage and other fluids in the interior of the tank. At least one annular projection (52) extends around an outlet opening (44) to enable a tank wall portion (54) adjacent the outlet opening and outlet tubing (48) to move relative to the remainder of the tank.

5586675 - Reinforced material handling container - Owned by General Electric Company (Pittsfield, MA)

A material handling container (10) of the type for packaging, shipping and inventorying goods and of the type for stacking one upon the other when not in use, made of molded thermoplastic and having a plurality of plastic reinforcement members (86) arranged in predetermined positions about the plastic planer expanses (84) of the container (10) for adding strength and stiffness. The reinforcement members (86) define a plurality of hollow channels (88) disposed adjacent to the planer expanses (84) of the container (10) and including at least one rib (90) extending upwardly from the channel (88) defined by the reinforcement member (80) for adding strength and stiffness to the planer expanse (84) of the container (10).

5624049 - Intermodal container with inner receptacle - Owned by WasteCo Manufacturing (Dickinson, ND)

An intermodal container having a non-metallic tuner receptacle in an external frame, where the inner receptacle has a bottom wall and side walls formed of a one-piece, completely integral sheet.
