Abstract
A tool set including a plurality of tools each having a pair of integrally connected elongate shanks disposed at an angle relative to each other and an elongate tool-holding body having a channel open along one of its longitudinal sides and at one of its ends for storing the tools therein with one shank of each tool supported on the base of the channel. A pivot member extending laterally of the channel and spaced outwardly from the base of the channel overlies the shanks of the tools in the channel. A tool is slidable longitudinally of the body to shift one tool shank outwardly to expose a working part thereon and the pivot member permits swinging of the other tool shank outwardly to expose a working part thereon. A frictional, shank-engaging clip engages the shanks of the tools in the channel to hold them either in stored or selected working positions relative to the body. The tools decrease in cross-sectional dimensions progressing from one to the other laterally of the channel. The base of the channel and the overlying pivot member converge on progressing laterally of the channel to produce a selected sliding fit with the tools, also serving to inhibit rotation of the tools about axes extending longitudinally of the holding body.

4384499 - Tool set of the type having slide-out and swing-out tools - Owned by Yates; Harmon P. (Longview, WA)

A multi-configurational tool device with improved tool storage. The device is of the type having a plurality of tools, each including a pair of angularly disposed, integrally joined elongate shanks having working ends and a surface run having facets. The device, additionally, has an elongate carrier including an elongate channel with a base and an open side extending longitudinally of the channel. The base cooperates with a pivot member secured to the carrier and spaced apart from the base to form a nip region through which the tool shanks are moved for positioning of the tools in a working mode. The improvement includes a groove at least partially encircling a shank of a tool to accommodate rotating of the shank about its longitudinal axis to permit a change in the extension direction of the associated integral shank.

4010663 - Multiple hand tool

A hand tool for a variety of tools such as Allen wrenches, screw drivers, Philips drivers, twist drills, taps, etc. A multiplicity of tools, or different sized tools, are mounted on a single tool handle. The cylindrical handle is provided with a central axial socket member having a central axial opening. Extending from the front edge rearwardly, the handle has a plurality of circumferentially spaced, parallel, grooves. Each tool comprises a base portion adapted to fit into the axial opening of the socket member. Various methods may be used to lock the tool against rotation, such as five or six sides, tapers, keyways, etc. The elongated tool member extends axially from the base portion. Each base portion is mounted in a loop holder which is hinged on a short wire support having elongated spaced parallel wire arms extending at right angles from the short wire portion. Each tool is mounted in its groove by inserting the elongated wire arms into the groove. The wire is slidable in the groove and provision is made to prevent its pulling out. In this position, the tool can be pivoted to align with the axial opening and can be pushed into the opening to lock in place. To remove the tool, it can be pulled from the opening and pivoted into its groove and then pushed out of the way.

5495942 - Automatic extending member selector

A device is described capable of selectively extending one member selected from a number of possible extending members, by a selector, full extension of the selected member being made under spring force applied by a rotating shaft.

5581834 - Folding knife and tool device

A combination knife and tool set device having a handle member in which a blade and tool members are pivotally connected. A swinging lock lever is provided for locking the blade in an extended position through entry of the locking member into the blade cavity and abutment thereof against the end of the blade. Retraction of the blade is enabled by one-handed operation of both the locking lever and the blade. Tool members are provided in a tool member cavity at the other end of the handle and may be pivoted outwardly and locked in a variety of extensions and locked in place by a threaded locking set.

5791211 - Folding hand tool set

A folding hand tool set having a one-piece, completely integral, plastic handle and a plurality of hand tools rotatably mounted thereto. The one-piece, completely integral, plastic handle is preferably constructed from a fiber reinforced thermoplastic. Spacers may be provided for rotationally isolating the hand tools. The folding hand tool set is capable of transmitting more then 110.0 Newton.meters of torque without compromising the integrity of the one-piece, completely integral plastic handle. A one-piece, completely integral, plastic handle for receiving hand tools is also disclosed. The handle can withstand at least 30 Newton.meters of torsional force without compromising the integrity of the handle.
