A magazine for fastener-driving apparatus includes a guide on which the fasteners are located, a slide movable along the guide under the action of a spring to feed the fasteners into a driving position and a cover which fits over the guide. The cover is displaceable in a direction transverse to the feed direction into a release position to permit the introduction of fasteners into the magazine.
A fastener-driving tool comprising a nosepiece, a mechanism for driving a fastener from the nosepiece into a workpiece, and a mechanism for feeding an elongate strip of collated fasteners, such as, for example, nails having heads. An elongate track admits the strip of fasteners and guides it so that a leading fastener is positioned so as to enter the nosepiece. A pusher is movable longitudinally along the track over a range of operative positions, between a retracted position and an advanced position, and laterally between the retraced position and an inoperative position. The pusher is biased longitudinally so as to push the strip of fasteners along the track, toward the advanced position, when the pusher is disposed within the range of operative positions. The pusher is biased laterally toward the inoperative position, at which it can be releasably latched. A button is arranged to be manually depressed so as to release the pusher.
A magazine having an upper fastener holding chamber including a floor, a lower housing and a magazine cover that can be adjusted to a number of heights above the chamber floor without such cover being removed or the interconnectors used to secure the cover to the housing being disassembled. Alignment positioning of the magazine cover at a selected height above the floor is accomplished by locating pins and complementary holes.
A magazine for V-nails for use in underpinning of picture frames receives a strip of V-nails secured together by heat-bonded non-adhesive synthetic plastic material through an opening of greater width than the V-nails. A pusher has a downwardly projecting tongue which is driven in the machine and has depending side walls at its forward end affording a contact point for pushing the V-nails at their center of gravity towards a pair of locating formations and the extreme forward end. A single V-nail which may be presented either point foremost or point rearmost is removed from the end of the strip in the underpinning operation, the magazine being cut away and the pusher being cut away to permit this operation. On return of the drive member, a cam firstly returns the pusher to a stop in the magazine and then lifts the magazine from its operative position to enable it to be removed or refilled.
A portable setting tool includes a housing (2), a guide tube (3) for guiding the fastening elements and connectable with the housing and having a side cut-out through which the fastening elements are fed into the guide tube (3), and a feeler (13) extendable into the guide tube (3) at a location opposite the cut-out (11) of the guide tube (3) and having, at an end thereof extendable into the guide tube (3), an end surface (13a) providing for displacement of the feeler (13) in a direction transverse t a longitudinal axis (14) of the guide tube (3) upon being acted upon by a fastening element, and an adjusting rim (17) adjoining the end surface (13a) and forming, with a longitudinal axis (14) of the guide tube (3), an acute angle (.alpha.1) opening in a direction toward a mouth opening of the guide tube (3) with the adjusting rim providing for displacement of the feeler (13) in the transverse direction upon being acted upon by an object displaceable along the longitudinal axis (14) of the guide tube (3).
A box nailing machine includes: a box nailing machine body having a nail driving port from which nails are driven; a handle portion having a handle arm; and a magazine for accommodating nails in it, the forward end portion of which is attached to the nail driving port, the portion of the magazine except for the forward end portion being attached to the handle portion via the handle arm. The magazine has a handle arm attaching portion for attaching the magazine to the handle arm. The magazine is made of metal and formed substantially U-shape by press forming. A washer is integrally formed in the handle arm attaching portion so that the washer is disposed between a head portion of a fixing bolt and the magazine.
