The invention deals with compositions having utility as digestive aids. Such compositions can be produced in a dry powder form, with amylotic and lipolytic activity in addition to the proteolytic activity normally present and with harmful bacteria eliminated therefrom by treating comminuted pancreas with aqueous medium containing calcium sulfate or calcium acetate, adding a proteolytic enzyme activator and after a period required for enzyme activation, dehydrating the mixture at temperatures which will inactivate pathogenic bacteria.

The invention is directed to a pharmaceutical preparation with a modulatory effect on malignant tumors, which contains a combination of protease proenzymes and amylases in a ratio between 1:100 and 100:1 in enzymatic activity units, and a protease inhibitor. The invention is also directed to use of such a preparation to modulate the effects of malignant tumors in humans and animals.
The use of complex lipids, especially lecithin, as additives to stabilize water-soluble pharmaceutical preparations of digestive enzyme mixtures containing lipases and proteases, especially pancreatin-containing digestive enzyme mixtures, which are suitable for preparing aqueous solutions for continuous introduction into the gastrointestinal tract by means of a tube, against a decrease in lipolytic activity under the influence of moisture.
A pharmaceutical composition containing an effective amount of an enzyme preparation which is capable of promoting decomposition of food containing meat and/or adipose tissue and is produced from aquatic animals selected from the group consisting of animals of the order Euphausiaceae and animals of the genus Mallotus, said composition being useful as a digestion promoter in gastrointestinal fluids. A process for the production of a dry pancreatin preparation is characterised in that the still moist pancreatin mass, which is obtained after extraction with a solvent or solvent mixture, is treated, before the solvents are finally removed, for a short time in a vacuum cutter, until the mass has been divided and shaped into small spherical particles, and then is finally dried.
