A disposable cop is disclosed, made of plastic material, and consisting essentially of a cropped cylindrical body, hollow inside, and having from 12 to 20 longitudinal reinforcing ribs disposed around the inside circumference, and arranged substantially radially at a uniform distance from each other and widened for a short distance in the section above their middle part, said longitudinal reinforcing ribs being: A. differentially and partially chamfered at the base of the cop, so as to provide inside the cylinder and with their free ends, a solid body or region having generating lines parallel to those of the cylinder, with an axial depth of about 12 mm and a cross-section which is a substantially equilateral triangle having radiused vertices, corresponding to the triangular entrainer of the spindle as required by ISO standards, and B. shorter by about 6 mm with respect to the total length of the cylinder at the head of the cop.
A textile bobbin is disclosed having double flanges and a strand collection zone between the flanges. The barrel of the bobbin is internally reinforced with longitudinal ribs, the upper flange is completely enclosed and the barrel and flanges are sized to provide an optimum wind angle and increased yarn capacity for high twist yarns beyond those customary in the glass fiber yarn field.
A core adapted to mount on and lock to the take-up spindle of a loom or textile weaving machine, the core having an elongated hollow configuration defined by a cylindrical wall. Aligned inwardly directed depressions at the opposed end portions of the core form inwardly directed keying protrusions which engage within an elongated keyway defined within the spindle. The protrusions are formed by mounting mandrels within the opposed ends of the core, heating the core end portions and deforming the heated end portions by means of pressure applying shoes and opposed complementary depressions within the mandrels.
A toroidal electrical transformer having a low voltage coil, a high voltage coil, and an annular magnetic core is disclosed. The preferred low voltage and high voltage coils are each fabricated in two semitoroidal sections which together form an arcuate elongated passage therethrough. Two bobbin halves are inserted into the semitoroidal sections of the low and high voltage coils and are joined to form a cylindrical bobbin within the arcuate elongated passage. The preferred annular magnetic core is wound onto the bobbin within the arcuate elongated passage substantially from a continuous strip of magnetic material resulting in a toroidal transformer with continuous windings and a continuous wound core. Various components and sub-assemblies are also disclosed along with various apparatus and methods for producing such toroidal electrical transformers, its components and its sub-assemblies.
A tubular yarn package (10) is disclosed of the type held by at least one end on a rotatably mounted plate. The plate fits into one end of package (10) and traps across the end against an inner wall of the package a length of yarn. Short length of spirally extending grooves (15) are formed in the inner wall of the package (10) adjacent to the end of the package. The yarn fits into the closest adjacent groove (15) and grips the yarn sufficiently to prevent breakage of the yarn by relative movement between the package (10) and the plate occasioned by starting or stopping the rotation of the package (10).
