A single-component foamable latex composition, the method of preparing the composition, and the foams prepared therefrom, which composition comprises a natural or synthetic latex or blends, ammonia, a curing system, a siloxane heat-sensitizing agent, and a zinc dibenzyl dithio carbamate accelerator. The latex composition is capable of being stored for a long period of time without gellation or precure prior to use. The combination of a heat-sensitizing agent and an ammonia-retardant accelerating agent has been found to prevent premature gellation and precure of the latex composition.
A novel elastomeric composition of matter comprises a suitable elastomer, a masterbatch consisting of a silicone compound in an amount of from about 10 to about 50 parts by weight based upon the weight of the elastomer, titanium dioxide, and clay. A process for the preparation of a silicone-containing elastomeric composition of matter is provided and includes the steps of masterbatching a silicone compound, clay and titanium dioxide to form a dispersion, adding the dispersion to the elastomer and thereafter forming and curing a desired product therefrom. The composition is useful in the manufacture of rubber goods such as surgical and medical products which can be single or multi-layered.

An imitation-leather sheet laminate material is prepared employing an acidic, heat-coagulated, carboxylated, elastomeric latex polymer, wherein the acidic latex polymer is coated onto a top resin skin layer and a fibrous base sheet is placed on the wet foam layer, which method comprises: shock-heating the wet foam layer to coagulate the carboxylated polymer therein into a fine, open-cell, tough foam layer and to remove rapidly water from the coagulated foam layer.
