Abstract
On vehicles such as snowmobiles or other devices utilizing a internal combustion engine, it is usual to provide a throttle lever which is squeezed to open the throttle and released to close the throttle. Various forms of engine kill mechanisms are provided to stop the engine when the throttle pressure is released. These are usually provided with a mechanism for cutting out the kill switch for starting purposes and these are easily by-passed. The present device includes a relatively simple construction having a lever which can be positioned in many locations so that it is actuated by squeezing the throttle lever. An override is provided for starting purposes which is automatically released when the throttle is squeezed and cannot be by-passed.

4840248 - Safety switch light fence

A safety switch light fence for vehicles such as fork lift trucks has a photoelectric cell system positioned across a vehicle exit opening in an area where an operater's foot is disposed when the operator allows his foot to protrude from the cab. At least one of a signaling device and an automatic cut-off are activated when protrusion of an operator's leg or foot is sensed. One or more light beams are directed across the exit opening. A foot switch can be used to sense proper placement of the operator's feet in the cab and to disable the photoelectric cell system, alarm and/or cut-off if the feet are safely stowed.

Operator controlled devices in the form of hand operated instruments in which a ring worn by an operator is configured to be insertable into a recess in a hand holdable portion of the instrument. The recess includes a fixed contact configuration that is engagable by a non-magnetic bridging contactor on an outer peripheral face of the ring, so that the instrument becomes operational when the contactor is inserted into the recess and engages the fixed contact configuration.
