Abstract
An instructional aid for holding the tips of a pair of skis together is disclosed. This aid is suitable for a novice skier learning to ski. It enables the skier to keep the skis in a snowplow position. The aid has a first and second clamping means adapted to be mounted on the tips of a pair of skis. One of the clamping means has a U-bend with a shank portion which extends downwards and hooks into an eyelet on a second clamping means attached to the tip of the other ski. The shank may easily be disengaged from the eyelet by the skier but not when the skis are in the snowplow position. Thus the skier need not remove the skis to separate the connection.

4828288 - Device for linking ski tips

The linking device comprises two near-symmetrical portions, each with an attachment piece (1', 1") which can be fixed securely to the ski tip, an arm (3', 3") which is integral with the said attachment piece, and a joint (4', 4") which interconnects the forward ends of the said arms. The joint is preferably of the spherical ball-in-cup type. The device allows the skis to be positioned parallel to each other, as well as to be turned to the snowplow position, and it renders the sport very much easier for novices.

5531480 - Ski stabilizing device

A ski stabilizing device used in combination with a pair of skis to assist a novice skier in learning to ski includes a pair of block members, each block member attached to the inner edge of one ski adjacent the inflected tip of the ski. Each block member encases a spherical region which registers with a circular aperture located on an inside face of the respective block member. Disposed within each spherical region is a ball. Extending between the block members for connecting each ball is a connecting rod which maintains the skis at a generally fixed distance from each other. The encasement of the balls within the block members allows for the independent angular, rotational and longitudinal movement of the skis with respect to each other and with respect to the ski slope on which the novice skier is skiing. The device includes the capability to gradually enlarge or reduce the amount of angular, rotational, and longitudinal movement of the skis. By selective adjustment, longitudinal and rotational movement of each ski can be gradually enlarged or reduced in conjunction with the level of skill attained by the novice skier.

4936603 - Accessory for linking ski tips together

The accessory for skis, intended to link two skis together in order to facilitate their guidance, comprises a connecting leaf or strip (1) mounted on resiliently flexible members (3) rigidly fixed to the tips of the skis and making it possible to vary the relative position of said skis.

7052044 - Releasable ski tip coupler - Owned by Lucky Bums, Inc. (Boise, ID)

This Releasable Ski Tip Coupler interconnects a pair of skis, especially snow skis, in order to maintain proper spacing of the tips of the skis for training inexperienced skiers, especially children. The coupler allows the user to vary the separation of the tails of the skis without danger of a fall caused by crossing of the ski tips. The coupler comprises two sets of straps, one set to encompass each of the right and left skis. One strap from each set engages an aperture provided near the tip of each ski, while other straps may serve to secure the aperture-engaging strap from disconnecting during use. The two sets of straps are joined to one another by a releasable buckle to allow quick separation of the two skis when desired. Straps and buckle are sized to maintain proper spacing of the ski tips for the trainee.

6592150 - Ski rocker training device for instructing able bodied and disabled skiers

A new and improved hand held training device for instructing able bodied and disabled skiers. A gripping bar is attached proximal to the top of a pole member which declines to be attached to a planar member on bottom. The planar member includes a curved up front-end running surface and a normal sliding section for moving the device forward. A rearwardly inclined and extended suspension member attaches and suspends one or more downward extended anti-skid members (fins and adjustable flaps) above and substantially to the rear of the normal sliding section of the planar member. Preferred suspension members include said pole member (which inclines and extends rearward from the planar member), and a rearwardly inclined and extended addition to the planar member. To operate, able bodied skiers use one device having a crossbar on top. Whereas, disabled skiers use two devices having a gripping bar and forearm cuff.
