A game apparatus is provided which includes a generally hollow housing formed in the shape of a miniature shark having a pivotally mounted lower jaw portion. The pivotal lower jaw is mounted upon a horizontal axis and biased toward a closed position by a pair of resilient rubberbands. A plurality of game objects of different shapes and weights are provided to be placed on the lower jaw portion so that the cumulative weight of all of the game objects maintains the lower jaw in an open position. A set of cards determine which one of the playing pieces a player of the game is to retrieve from the lower jaw, and an elongated implement having a hook portion is provided to retrieve the game objects from the lower jaw portion. As the game objects are removed and the weight on the jaw lessened, at one point the lower jaw portion will snap shut under the force of the resilient rubberbands to terminate a round of play.
A liquid game amusement system that operates under the principle that atmospheric pressure acting on a cover member will maintain a quantity of liquid contained within a container when the container is inverted. A cup-like container is filled with liquid and a planar cover member is placed contiguous to a rim portion of the container. The container and cover member are inverted and releasably secured to a vertically directed stand. The cover member has hook elements passing from a lower surface thereof. An operator spins a dial or spinner element on a game board and termination of the rotation of the spinner in a particular indicia zone of the game board determines a particular weight element to be used by the operator. The operator chooses the particular weight element and locates himself or herself under the combined container and cover member. The operator then secures the weight element to one of the cover hook elements extending from the cover. If the atmospheric pressure still produces a greater upward force on the cover member than the opposing downward gravity force of the liquid within the container, the cover remains in place and the liquid is maintained within the container. The next operator repeats the same process and eventually, the combined weight of the various weight elements and the gravity force of the liquid within the container causes the cover to be released from the rim portion of the container and the operator at that time is doused with the liquid from within the container.
A toy game apparatus includes a character figure assembly having a mouth portion which is movable to an open position, a plurality of teeth removably received in the mouth portion, and a pliers-like instrument for removing the teeth from the mouth portion. The toy game apparatus further includes a mechanism for automatically moving the mouth portion to a closed position, propelling the game apparatus forwardly, and producing a screeching sound when a randomly preselected tooth is removed from the mouth portion.
A toy game comprises a simulated alligator body having a pair of jaws mounted thereon for movement between relatively closed and opened positions. At least one of the alligator's legs is pivotally mounted on the body for movement between an extended position wherein the leg engages the support surface for the toy and a second, retracted position. A latch arrangement is provided in the body operatively engaged with the leg for releasably latching the upper jaw in its opened position upon movement of the leg from its retracted to its extended position. A plurality of game objects are placed in the lower jaw to cause it to move away from the upper jaw toward its open position. The lower jaw is operatively engaged with the latch to release it upon movement of the lower jaw past a predetermined position so that the jaws return together to their closed position and the leg moves to its retracted position whereby the toy simulates a snapping action in the animal.
A game is provided in which tokens are moved according to the throw of a die through a number of obstacles on a path from the point of a shipwreck to shore. Adjacent the path of travel is a three dimensional fish whose jaws may be manually moved toward a closed position by rotating its dorsal fin. Playing with the game, a balloon is placed in the fish's jaws and players are required to rotate the fin when their tokens land on particular game board spaces. When the balloon bursts, the player who burst it is penalized.
A game apparatus including a plurality of playing blocks arranged in a stacked layered pyramid arrangement and including a bottom layer and an intermediate layer, the intermediate layer supported by the bottom layer and positioned centrally thereon, each of the blocks of the intermediated layer supported by a plurality of blocks of the bottom layer, and the arrangement of the blocks being such as to allow removal of some but not all of the blocks of the intermediate and bottom layers without causing collapse of other blocks. The blocks each have planar faces and each include a recess, and a thin member is positioned in each recess and the thin member generally bisects the recess. The game apparatus also includes a rod having a hook formed in one end, the hook receivable in the recess and engageable with the thin member for removing selected blocks from the pyramid formation.
