Abstract
Pre-shaped wrought-iron rods are placed one beside another in a lattice array, in which node-forming portions of adjacent rods are disclosed close to each other at a plurality of node positions. All node-forming portions at each of said node positions are inserted into a U-shaped strip metal element having an inwardly protruding longitudinal rib. Each of said strip metal elements is joined to said node-forming portions inserted therein by a projection welding operation in which said rib is used as a projection. Each of said strip metal elements is subsequently closed to form a closed clip embracing said node-forming portions joined thereto.

6330739 - Caulking method - Owned by Denso Corporation (Kariya,JP)

A first member having a pair of claws and an engagement recess provided between the pair of claws and a second member having an engagement portion are prepared. In a state where the engagement portion of the second member is disposed in the engagement recess of the first member, the pair of claws is externally held by a side face jig. Then, a punch having a trapezoid recess composed of a pair of inclined parts and a horizontal part between the inclined parts is brought to contact with front end portions of the caulking claws. The punch is pushed to bent the caulking claws along the inclined parts, and is further pushed to upset the caulking claws by the horizontal part. As a result, the first member is securely caulked with the second member.

5255421 - Wreath making apparatus

Apparatus (10) for making wreaths is disclosed as including a pair of jaws (30) mounted on a support (20) to provide initial wreath wire deformation for capturing greens (14). A third jaw (34) also mounted on the support 20 provides further deformation to secure the greens. An actuating mechanism (36) which is of the pedal operated type initially moves the pair of jaws (30) for the initial wreath wire deformation and thereafter moves the third jaw (34) to provide the further deformation.

4662056 - Method of affixing ornamentation support members to a cord-like member

A method and apparatus for affixing ornamentation support members to a cord-like member, wherein the ornamentation support members include a clamp and a tangentially extending base member which is bonded to the clamp. In accordance with the invention, the base member is supported by first support surface means and the legs of the clamp are supported against outward deformation by parallel walls of a channel formed in second support means. The cord-like member is positioned within the clamp. A slide member is provided in the channel which is moveable between a rest position and a crimping position for deforming the legs of the clamp to crimp the legs about the cord-like member.

6851172 - Method for securing a rod-shaped part in a holding member - Owned by Willy Voit GmbH & Co. Stanz- und Metallwerk (St. Ingbert,DE)

In a method of securing a rod-shaped part in a surrounding holding member, a flat holding member is fabricated with opposite side edges that are formed with elements configured for interlocking engagement. The side edges of the holding member are bent upwards, and the holding member is then shaped into a cross section in accordance with the cross section of the rod-shaped part. After inserting the rod-shaped part into the holding member; the holding member is press-fitted about the rod-shaped part.

6029953 - Animal barrier - Owned by Arizona Sonora Desert Museum (Tucson, AZ)

An improved animal barrier material and an improved fastening system to simplify its knotting process are disclosed. In the preferred embodiment, a plurality of multi-stranded metallic cables are joined together using parallel overhand knots. A pair of metallic cables may be taken together to form substantially adjacent portions which then form a loop. The pair of metallic cables passes around a portion of the loop and through the loop to form a overhand know. Such a knot minimizes stress and fatigue on the netting and makes the netting nearly invisible to the naked eye at a distance of more than a few feet.
