An automatic speed sensor positioner for use on a wheel of an automotive vehicle where a speed sensor device is located in the brake drum of each wheel of an automotive vehicle and cooperates with a slotted rotor rotating with the wheel to sense the speed thereof. This device includes a housing mounted in the brake drum and a magnetic sensor positioned in the housing; the housing and sensor having complementary tapered surfaces which are urged together by a spring, so that the sensor will move into proper position determined by an ablative plate on the sensor when it is engaged by the rotor as the wheel is assembled on the axle.
A built-in wheel speed sensor structure having an internal gear-like sensor rotor integrally fixed to a tire and an electromagnetic car speed sensor fitted to an inner portion of a parking brake and facing the sensor rotor. The wheel speed sensor is supported by an anchor pin of the drum brake so that the sensor rotor may be positioned away from service holes for fastening bolts which have been bored into a brake drum.
An encoder ring with multiple North and South poles around its circumference is connected to the rotatable race of a bearing assembly for rotation with the rotatable race. A sensor is connected to the fixed race. The encoder ring is kept in slidable contact with the sensor. The slidable contact is maintained by a flexible member which keeps the encoder ring in slidable contact with the sensor.
A sensor ring is coaxially mounted on a free end portion of a rotating element for detecting rotations of the rotating element. The free end portion defines an axially extending cylindrical surface and a radially extending stop surface for mounting of the sensor ring. The sensor ring has a cylindrical portion which defines a cylindrical center opening to be press fitted over the axially extending cylindrical surface of the free end portion of the rotating element. The sensor ring also has a flange portion which extends diagonally radially outward from one end periphery of the cylindrical portion such that the flange portion abuts on the stop surface of the free end portion of the rotating element when the sensor ring is completely mounted on the rotating element. The diagonally extending flange portion can avoid a connection curvature between the axial and radial surfaces of the free end portion of the rotating element during the press fitting operation.
A holder for a sensor includes a body having a top wall and a side portion extending away from the top wall. The sensor is adapted to sense a parameter of an item. The top wall and the side portion of the body form an interior cavity. A flange is coupled to and extends away from an edge of the side portion. A pressure application portion is coupled to a surface of the interior cavity of the body and is adapted to apply force to the sensor when the holder is coupled to the surface of the item.
A bearing assembly comprising a bearing including an inner and outer rings one of which is fixed to a rotating member, and a pulser gear fixed to the rotating member. The pulser gear is composed of an annular magnetic plate member and having a plurality of punched through holes mutually separated along a circumferential direction thereof. Revolution of the rotating member can be detected by a sensor provided close to the pulser gear.
