Abstract
A blank which is capable of producing a tube of moisture-resistant material which may be end sealed to form a package. The blank comprises a substratum of card or the like with a delaminable sheeting thereon. The blank has fold lines defining opposable body walls and at least one end closure panel. Flange panels are defined with extensions and allow the formation of a sealable fin. Apparatus and method are provided for side seaming such a blank with outfolding of panels to fuse the sheeting into a tube and delaminate the sheeting from the substratum. Apparatus and method are also provided for end sealing such a tube, with provision for outfolding of gussets and fusion and delamination of the sheeting to provide an end membrane delaminated from the substratum.

4294642 - Process for the production of package for cigarettes or the like - Owned by Focke & Pfuhl (Verden,DE)

A package and a process for making the same is disclosed. The package is especially useful for cigarettes and is of the hard cup type being made with a packing body of cardboard, pasteboard or similar material. The body of the package is provided on the outside with a moisture and odor (aroma) tight coating and, at least at the upper edge, a strip of inside tin foil wrapping is attached for the formation of a front fold. The arrangement simplifies the package blank and results in a finished package having an overall metal coating.

7211311 - Folded sheets

The present invention provides a sheet material (2) comprising a first fold line and a second fold line, the first and second fold lines being defined by a series of at least partial perforations (4,8) in the sheet material (2), wherein there is one or fewer at least partial perforations at an intersection of the first fold line and the second fold line.

4598027 - Tape measure holster

A holster facilitating the carrying of a housing enclosed tape measure; a blank for forming the holster; and a method of forming the holster are disclosed. The holster is formed from a blank of relatively resilient sheet material such as sheet steel or the like dimensioned to provide a planar rear wall of a width slightly larger than that of the rear wall of the housing of the tape measure to be supported. Side walls of a thickness of the tape measure housing are formed extending from the edges of the rear wall, and front flaps are formed on the edges of each side wall with the front flaps dimensioned to permit the passage of a finger therebetween. A spring joint is formed between at least the rear wall and the side walls so as to permit the side walls to flex but biasing the side walls towards each other to frictionally retain a tape measure housing there between. A bottom wall is formed extending from the rear wall and provided with a cut-out of at least finger width. The blank is provided with areas corresponding to the above described holster wall components; and a method is disclosed for bending the blank components into the desired holster configuration.

6195959 - Automatic packaging machine for cardboard box with latching flip top - Owned by Tisma Machinery Corporation (Elk Grove Village, IL)

An automatic packaging machine for forming and filling a latching flip-top box uses a two part mandrel which are joined by a hinge. One of the two hinged parts has a roller thereon for following a cam track having a quarter turn spiral therein. As the roller follows the spiral causing one hinged part to move through a quarter turn causing the flip-top to fold over and be formed. A somewhat loose tab on the top edge of the bottom of the box is a latch tab which is caught when the flip-top folds over.

7338423 - System and method for assembling a package with a flip-top - Owned by Thiele Technologies, Inc. (Minneapolis, MN)

An automatic packaging machine for forming a latching flip-top box from a blank. A plurality of mandrels are coupled to a conveyor system. Each of the mandrels includes a mounting block for coupling the mandrel to the automatic packaging machine, a package-holding assembly operatively connected to the mounting block and being rotatable about a first axis from a first position to a second position, and a flap holder assembly operatively connected to the mounting block. The flap holder assembly is rotatable about a second axis substantially perpendicular to the first axis. A plurality of plows and tucker assemblies sequentially manipulate portions of the blank in order to form portions of the box.
