Abstract
A composition useful in lamination, the process of applying this composition, and the resulting laminated structure. This composition comprises (1) a microcrystalline-type wax, for example melting from about 140.degree.-200.degree. F (2) a resin, for example petroleum polymer resins, terpene polymer resins, rosin and rosin esters, having a molecular weight of about 800 to 2,000 and (3) atactic polypropylene. The composition comprises about 20-40% of atactic polypropylene; about 10-25% of polymer resin; the balance (30-70%) being microcrystalline wax. This composition is applied and the plys joined together at a temperature above about 225.degree. F to yield a laminated structure having optimum properties, particularly excellent hot peeling strength.

5041483 - Prevention of odor generation during gamma-irradiation of polypropylene fibers - Owned by Hercules Incorporated (Wilmington, DE)

Rosin esters are used to reduce the tendency of shaped articles made from polypropylene, especially fibers, to form malodorous decomposition products upon sterilization by gamma-irradiation. Other stabilizers normally used to prevent discoloration and degradation of polyolefins may also be present. Stabilized fibers are used for the manufacture of disposable medical products.

A blend comprising polyolefin and hydrocarbon resin, wherein the polyolefin is semicrystalline and has a suitable degree of crystallinity and molecular weight, or the polyolefin is amorphous and has sufficiently high molecular weight, and sufficient hydrocarbon resin is present in the blend, so that a film made from the blend is substantially vinyl-like and non-elastomeric. Some of the films are also conformable, drapable or affinely deformable by hand.

6531212 - Retroreflective article and method - Owned by 3M Innovative Properties Company (St. Paul, MN)

A retroreflective article comprising a plurality of retroreflective elements and a film comprising a blend of polyolefin and hydrocarbon resin, wherein the polyolefin is semicrystalline and has a suitable degree of crystallinity and molecular weight, or the polyolefin is amorphous and has sufficiently high molecular weight, and sufficient hydrocarbon resin is present in the blend, so that the film is substantially vinyl-like. The articles can be used, for example, in reflective footwear, apparel, safety wear, sweatbands, piping and adornments.
