A shutter is slidingly mounted in a frame which exposes a single line of words on a page of printed material. The shutter may be moved from left to right across the exposed line exposing words, syllables or the like sequentially.
An organizational aid for EDP paper sheets is provided which permits adaptation to different EDP paper sizes. To this end the feed holes (15) located at the side margins of EDP paper sheets (11) are utilized. A fixed carrier member (10) has mounting elements (20, 26, 28) disposed thereon which comprise a bar (20) and two holding members (26, 28). U-shaped clamps (40) for accommodating and fixing the paper sheets (11) are detachably secured in the holding members (26, 28). One (28) of said holding members is movable along the longitudinal direction of the bar (20) while the other holding member (26) is fixedly joined to the bar (20) (FIG. 1).
An apparatus having a generally triangular shape and for helping a person read includes a housing with oppositely spaced edge portions and oppositely spaced end portions integral with the edge portions. The housing further has substantially planar top and bottom surfaces with respective openings formed therein and a slot formed generally medially between the top and bottom surfaces of the housing. The apparatus further includes a plurality of colored films selectively positionable into the slot and for assisting a user to differentiate a group of words in a line from a remainder of words in other lines.
A reading teaching aid comprising two substantially coplanar masking elements each of which defines at least one edge of a viewing area, said elements being carried on the respective first ends of a pair of elongate arms which are resiliently hinged together at their second ends, each of said elongate arms having finger reception means adjacent said masking elements which include a substantially horizontal portion and an upstanding portion to allow said masking elements to be pressed onto a supporting surface and moved towards and away from each other against the resilience of the hinge to vary the dimensions of the viewing area.
A positioning unit for use in completing forms at a word processing station having a display unit, a computer, a text input device and a printer. The positioning unit has a transparent contact plate into which a copy of the form is placed and underneath which a movable position marker directs onto the copy a light dot which is moved in synchronism with a cursor on a screen of a display unit. The position marker is mounted on a frame below the contact plate and is movable in line and column directions parallel to the contact plate so as to follow the movement of the cursor, so that an operator can observe where on a corresponding form in the printer text entered into a computer via the input device and viewable on the screen, will be typed on the printer.
A portable viewer for reading, which has a rectangular-shaped case. The case has two sides parallel longitudinally and two sides parallel widthwise. Each side has an inner edge so that the four inner edges define a viewing slot. A sliding panel is slidably movable longitudinally between the longitudinal inner edges and has a width at least as wide as the widthwise inner edges. A shutter is slidably movable traversely between the widthwise inner edges and has a length at least as long as the longitudinal inner edges. A clear tinted lens rests on the sliding panel and can be extended beyond the end of the sliding panel into the viewing slot. A magnifying lens is provided at the top of the case in the viewing slot to distinguish the viewing field from the rest of a page. Internal illumination is provided, which also helps to distinguish the viewing field.
