CINNAMAMIDE compounds of the formula ##STR1## where X is chloro, bromo or iodo and R is hydrogen or alkyl of 1 to 3 carbons as pharmaceuticals which are useful in the treatment or prophylaxis for convulsions.
Cinnamamides of formula (I), ##STR1## wherein X is fluoro, chloro, bromo, iodo or trifluoromethyl and R is cycloalkyl or cycloalkyl alkyl, have anticonvulsant properties. The compound trans-3-fluoro-(N-cyclopropyl)cinnamamide is also useful as a muscle relaxant.
