An anti-theft device for a motorcycle helmet. Said helmet has a continuous rib on the periphery of the edge of its opening. There is pprovided means for gripping said edge of the opening of the helmet behind said rib, and a lock device for locking said gripping means in the gripping position.
The device is provided in a two-wheeled vehicle comprising a tubular steering head, a tubular fork shaft rotatably mounted in said tubular steering head and having a shell aperture, two fork blades, upper and lower fork bridges firmly connecting said fork blades to said fork shaft, and a steering lock having a bolt and operable to move said bolt into said tubular fork shaft through said shell opening to said locking position, and out of said tubular fork shaft. A rod is longitudinally slidably mounted in said tubular fork shaft and has a lower end portion which is enlarged in width and extends under said bolt when the latter is in said locking position. A hook is secured to said lock and movable therewith between a lower position, in which said hook cooperates with said upper fork bridge to form a closed latch therewith, and an upper position, in which said hook is spaced above said upper fork bridge.
Apparatus for locking elements together is disclosed which comprises socket means defining a first axis, knob means, and fastener means for attaching the knob means to the socket means. The fastener means has first and second ends and a middle portion, the first end including means for affixing said fastener means coaxially with, and in, the socket means; the second end including a smooth bearing portion; and the middle portion including a head portion, having faces, positioned beneath the bearing portion. The knob means houses lock means therein and is rotatable on the fastener bearing portion. The lock means includes bolt means having a first portion pivotable about a second axis parallel to the first axis and between a first position wherein the knob means is free to rotate on the fastener bearing portion, and a second position wherein a second portion of the bolt means is engagable with one of the faces whereby rotation of the knob means about the fastener means is prevented, so that the fastener means is removable from the socket means.
This invention relates to a securing mechanism in the form of a clamp, said securing mechanism also incorporating a locking mechanism which when in locked form prevents the clamp from being readily opened. In preferred embodiments the securing mechanism is in the form of a clamp comprising at least two retaining members, a translation means associated with the two retaining members, a handle containing a locking mechanism attached to said translation means, characterised in that the handle can be moved by the translation means to secure the retaining members with respect to each other, and when the locking mechanism is activated on the handle ready movement of the handle and subsequent release of the retaining members is prevented. The securing mechanism provides a secure means by which valuable articles can be held.
A helmet can be secured using a front fork lock by placing an end of the motorcycle's handlebars through the helmet and then locking the handlebars. In some configurations a sturdy protrusion, such as metal, graphite, etc., is affixed to an end of the handlebars or to a part of the motorcycle frame to make removal of the helmet in the locked position impossible, or very difficult. Different embodiments disclose a protrusion attached to an end of a hand grip, to a swing point on a handlebar, or some other portion of a handlebar. Protrusions can also be affixed to the motorcycle frame. Protrusions can be made to swing out for securing a helmet and to swing flush with the motorcycle frame to prevent unwanted encumbrance to a rider. Other embodiments disclose protective ways to attach the protrusions so that they cannot be easily removed.
A security device for portable computer is disclosed. The security device comprises an anchor attached securely to the portable computer. The device also includes a lock box that makes use of a channel, wherein the channel is open at each end and is selectively openable laterally. The device further includes a cord that couples the anchor and the lock box.
