Abstract
An audio distributor interconnects a source of at least one electrical audio signal and a plurality of sound-producing speakers to sequentially apply the signal to each speaker in serial fashion. The distributor includes a support member having mounted on an outer surface thereof a number of interconnected conductive segments, each segment corresponding to one of the speakers. A motor rotates the support member, moving each conductive segment into contact with an electrical pickup to establish electrical communication between the segment associated with each speaker and the audio signal source. The conductive segments and their associated electrical pickups are arranged so that rotation of the support member sequentially places the conductive segments in position to cause the audio signal to be applied to at least one speaker at a time in serial fashion. With the speakers arranged to define the perimeter of a listening area mutually exclusive, serial application of the audio signal to the speakers simulates movement and spatial distribution of the sound about the listening area.

4964738 - Electrical conductor of high magnetic permeability material for audio circuits

An improvement in the high frequency sound quality of audio circuits using copper electrical interconnections is realized by replacing copper electrical interconnections with interconnections of a material exhibiting a greatly reduced skin depth at audio frequencies. At the moment, without the availability of practical room-temperature superconductors, the most practical method is to use a material possessing a high magnetic permeability. By this means, phase dispersion due to the skin effect is virtually eliminated.

4196314 - Sound distributing system improvements

Apparatus is disclosed for cyclically communicating an audio electrical signal to a plurality of sound-reproducing elements in sequential, serial fashion. One embodiment includes a number of make-or-break type of electrical switches, one for each sound-reproducing element, operably situated about and in engagement with the periphery of a rotating cam element. Each switch has an input terminal, to which is applied the audio electrical signal, and an output terminal that is coupled to the sound-reproducing element associated therewith. Rotation of the cam element sequentially makes and breaks each switch to alternately establish and interrupt communication of the audio electrical signal to the associated sound-reproducing element. Another embodiment includes a digital counter operably coupled to a number of transistor switches that are selectively caused to conduct. Transistor switch conduction interconnects an input terminal receiving the audio electrical signal to the sound-reproducing element associated with the transistor switch.

4684855 - Permanent magnet direct current motor apparatus

Disclosed is a permanent magnetic direct current motor apparatus which provides high constant torque and constant speed through a large stepping angle under varying output shaft load conditions. The apparatus includes a rotor, a plurality of stators and an electronic control device for providing a constant torque and speed. The rotor is constructed of a cylindrical homogeneous core having an outer, segmented ring formed from a plurality of permanent magnets. The magnets are of alternating polarity and are divided into groups. There is a stator apparatus surrounding the rotor which is composed of cylindrically spaced rows of electrically conductive coils radially spaced apart. A timing disk concentric with and rotating with the rotor senses the speed of the rotor and feeds back periodic timing pulses to an electronic switching system to control the current through the stators. The stators are electromagnetically coupled to the permanent magnet rotor surface. The current through the stators thereby control the magnitude of the electromagnetic flux and causes the rotor to maintain a constant speed as output shaft loads vary.

7289633 - System and method for integral transference of acoustical events - Owned by Verax Technologies, Inc. (Cantonment, FL)

A sound system for capturing and reproducing sounds produced by a plurality of sound sources. The system comprises a device for receiving sounds produced by the plurality of sound sources and converting the separately received sounds to a plurality of separate audio signals without mixing the audio signals. The system may further comprise a device for separately storing the plurality of separate audio signals on a recording medium without mixing the audio signals and a device for reading the stored audio signals from the recording medium. A sound system and method for modeling a sound field generated by a sound source and creating a sound event based on the modeled sound field is also disclosed. The system and method captures a sound field over an enclosing surface, models the sound field and enables reproduction of the modeled sound field.

7138576 - Sound system and method for creating a sound event based on a modeled sound field - Owned by Verax Technologies Inc. (Cantonment, FL)

A sound system and method for modeling a sound field generated by a sound source and creating a sound event based on the modeled sound field is disclosed. The system and method captures a sound field over an enclosing surface, models the sound field and enables reproduction of the modeled sound field. Explosion type acoustical radiation may be used. Further, the reproduced sound field may be modeled and compared to the original sound field model.
