A swimming pool construction of the below ground type includes a peripheral side and bottom wall structure composed of a plurality of generally rectangular planar members in edge-to-edge abutment and having inner and outer surfaces bearing an attached sheath, skin or layer of continuous unbroken character and composed of woven fiber glass cloth impregnated with a suitable resin such as a polyester resin and said inner and outer layers having their upper and lower marginal edges in overlapped relationship to completely encapsulate said planar core and said wall further including a continuous upper edge and lower edge stiffener serving together and with said planar wall core to lend unique integral strength.
A concrete in-ground swimming pool is given a resin bonded glass fiber liner that is securely bonded to the upper rim of the concrete pool wall 10 just below the coping 11. This is done with two saw cuts 15 and 16 inclined to each other to diverge with increasing depth of about 3/4" into the concrete wall below the coping so that material between the saw cuts can be cleaned out to form a dovetail shaped recess 17. A mixture of polyester resin and glass fibers fills the dovetail recess and covers over the upper pool wall and a narrow band around the upper rim of the pool in the region of the dovetail to form a bonding surface 21 locked to the recess. This is sanded smooth after the resin sets, and then the pool is lined with glass fiber mats 25 coated with polyester resin 26 that bonds to the bonding surface to form a waterproof liner bonded to the upper rim of the pool and supported by the concrete that serves as a mold.
A method and apparatus are provided for forming a cementitious walled ground excavation outwardly of which ground settling is substantially eliminated. A form wall footing is initially erected and leveled upon the bottom of the excavation inward of the walls thereof and inner form walls are then erected upon the outer margin of the footing and anchored in position relative thereto after which an upstanding skeletal reinforcing rod frame is erected between the excavation and form walls and fluent cementitious material is poured about the skeletal framework between the excavation and form walls.
A composition designed to produce cementitious interior finishes for swimming pools, spas and fountains includes one or more aggregates, and cement for binding the aggregates. The composition further includes silica fume and a set retarder and may also include a dispersing agent as well as an inhibitor for alkali-silica reactivity.
4640857 - Plywood - Owned by Meinan Machinery Works, Inc. (Aichi,JP)
Improved and novel structure of plywood is disclosed which makes it possible to use such veneers that are too short for a desired length of plywood panel and to provide joint which can exhibit improved strength over heretofore. The plywood of the invention includes a standard portion where a required number of plies of veneer are laminated together and at least one joint portion where short veneers in any of said plies are lapped at their adjacent longitudinal ends.
A cladding device for the pond of a swimming pool or the like includes a slab as well as side walls made of concrete or the like. This device is characterized in that it is formed of tightly juxtaposed glass plates applied, through mounting mechanisms, against the slab and the side walls of the pond, on the inner side of the latter.
