The present invention pertains to liquid homogeneous substantially unbuilt enzyme containing detergent compositions. These liquid compositions contain a major amount of a surfactant mixture comprising an ethoxylated nonionic surfactant and a synthetic anionic surfactant, a low level of a polyacid, free calcium ions, a proteolytic enzyme and a liquid carrier. The liquid compositions of this invention are from a performance standpoint comparable to granular built heavy duty detergent compositions. In respect to the comparable known liquid detergent state of the art, the compositions herein are capable of providing superior cleaning performance and excellent storage stability, particularly as regards the enzymatic activity.
Builder-free highly concentrated homogeneous fatty acid containing liquid detergent compositions are disclosed. The surface-active system in addition to the fatty acids also contains substantial amounts of anionic sulfonate/sulfate detergents and nonionic ethoxylates. The compositions are mildly acid to neutral and are capable of providing unexpectedly superior textile cleaning benefits, especially on oily and bleach sensitive soils.
Mid-chain branched surfactants derived from mid-chain branched primary alkyl hydrophobic groups and hydrophilic groups. The present invention also relates to mixtures of mid-chain branched surfactants useful in laundry and cleaning compositions, especially granular and liquid detergent compositions.
Homogeneous aqueous enzyme-containing liquid detergent compositions containing substantial levels of saturated fatty acids, minute amounts of enzyme-accessible calcium, and additive levels of selected short chain carboxylic acids are disclosed. These compositions exhibit a broad range of stability benefits with respect to the activity of the individual ingredients as well as in respect to homegeneity.
A storage stable liquid enzyme concentrate of Subtilisin Carlsberg containing 0.5-6.5 Anson Units of proteinase per gram of concentrate and method for preparing same. Solid form proteinase is extracted with 70-100 parts by volume propylene glycol, 30-0 parts by volume of water, then adjusted as necessary to 60-85% by wt. of the glycol. Stabilizing agents in the concentrate are 0.1-1 mol/kg. of one or more C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 carboxylate, formate being preferred, and a calcium ion content of 0.04-0.5% by wt., pH range is 5-8.
Stabilized aqueous enzyme compositions contain a stabilizing system comprising calcium ions and a low molecular weight carboxylic acid or salt, preferably a formate, preferably with a low molecular weight alcohol, and in a pH range of from about 6.5 to about 10. Most preferred is a detergent composition containing the stabilized enzymes.
