Abstract
An exterior window unit is adapted to cover an opening in a building wall. A frame sill has a vertical mounting portion adapted to be mated with and secured to a fixed sill in the building wall. The frame sill has a plurality of rail portions extending along the length of the vertical mounting portion and spaced vertically along the height thereof. A plurality of sashes are mounted within the window frame in parallel closely spaced planes and have at their respective lower edges engaging means with which the rail portions engage for guiding the horizontal movement of the sashes therealong.

6820371 - Hidden rail type window and door system

The present invention relates to a rail hidden type window and door system, including a lower window (or door) frame having a rail cover attached on a main window (or door) frame, a rail hidden by the rail cover and formed on a concave portion of a window (or door) of the main window (or door) frame of an inside of an inlet, and inlet gaskets mounted on a surface member and the rail cover; and a lower window (or door) member having a lower portion enhanced by a supporting portion, an extending portion having a roller supporting member on which a roller groove is formed, and a roller device mounted in the roller groove. Accordingly, the window (or door) is not removed from the rail and is stably opened and closed, while keeping the sealing state to minimize heat loss and preventing water from infiltrating into the interior.

4274468 - Triple-sash double-hung storm window

A triple-sash double-hung storm window assembly which includes a flanged, multiple channeled extrusion of generally rectangular overall configuration. The primary window or first sash of the assembly is the conventional double-hung window built into the house, and the flange of the multi-channeled extrusion is secured to a framing element which surrounds the conventional window at its outer side. The extrusion defines two staggered or offset compound channels forming an intermediate sash and an outer sash. The compound channel which defines the outer sash is peripherally inset from the compound channel defining the intermediate sash so that window and screen elements mounted in the outer sash can be mounted and demounted from the interior of the house, first through the intermediate sash and then through the conventional double-hung window.

4538662 - Window having double-glazed sliding doors and blinds - Owned by Tachikawa Corporation (Tokyo,JP)

A window having a blind disposed between interior and exterior panes of glass. A glazed interior door is movably disposed on the lower frame of a glazed exterior door, and the blind is disposed between these doors to form a double-glazed door. A plurality of sash rollers are movably mounted to the lower frame of the interior door and capable of moving along the rails mounted to the lower frame of the exterior door. Screws are detachably screwed into the interior and exterior doors to prevent these doors from moving relative to each other. The double-glazed door is arranged on the rails in the sash via a plurality of sash rollers which are rotatably mounted to the lower frame of the exterior door.

5437129 - Fire resistant skylight structure - Owned by Clear Plastics International, Inc. (Mundelein, IL)

Disclosed is a skylight structure capable of meeting the ASTM E-108 Class A fire rating requirements. In the illustrated embodiment, the structure comprises upper and lower thermoplastic panels maintained in parallel spaced relation by a gridwork of transversely extending metal beams, which maintain a metal screen taut adjacent the lower polymeric panel, and a layer of light transmitting insulating material disposed immediately above the screen. The metal gridwork and metal screen assure that no burning particles pass through the skylight structure and into the building, so that the upper and lower panels may be formed of very efficient light transmitting thermoplastics and do not need to be formed of thermoset plastics, which are less efficient at light transmission, but previously employed for its retardation characteristics. Hence, the disclosed skylight structure provides improved light transmission and improved fire resistance over currently manufacture skylights.

5806256 - Modular glazing system

A modular glazing system having several members, each member having one or more keyways or keys that permit the members to be connected. A preferred embodiment has four fundamental shapes: a base longitudinal member, an expander A, an expander B and a screen sash member. The base longitudinal member has a glazing channel, through which supplemental or primary glazing material is inserted. Along one side wall of the base longitudinal member is a keyway formed to interlock with a key from another piece. At right angles to the first keyway in the base longitudinal member, and disposed along a bottom wall of the base longitudinal member is another keyway, similarly shaped. The base longitudinal member also has an interior aperture through which an L-shaped connector is inserted to form corners. An expander A, shaped generally like the letter H, has two keys, one located on either side of the middle bar of the "letter" H. An expander B has only one key, depending downwardly from the middle bar of the "letter" H. Each expander can be further modified by removing one or more of the walls of the letter H or bending them, as may be required. Glazing material is inserted into base longitudinal members joined by connectors. A resilient material is inserted into the keyways that form the outer edges of each of these base longitudinal members, allowing the unit formed to be compression fit into a window opening. Expanders allow several units to be joined.
