Abstract
A diverter valve assembly and priority control circuit for use in an ice distribution system having an ice source and first and second ice delivery stations, the valve assembly comprising a valve body having an inlet section communicable with the ice source, and first and second outlet sections communicable with the first and second delivery stations, respectively; the valve assembly including a valve body having a central valve chamber communicable with the inlet and outlet sections and having a rotatable valve element disposed therein; an electrically energized motor for selectively rotating the valve element whereby to selectively communicate ice being supplied from the ice source to selected of the ice delivery stations, and a control system for use with the valve assembly, whereby to assure against actuation of the valve element during the delivery of ice to the valve assembly. An optional priority control circuit may also be included which is operative to direct ice to a selected delivery station before distribution to any other station.

5655386 - Ice crushing and feeding device for ice making apparatuses - Owned by Industrial Technology Research Institute (Hsinchu,TW)

An ice crushing and feeding device located below an ice making apparatus including a V-shaped receiving means, an ice conveying mechanism, a speed control device, a crushing mechanism, an ice/chilled water mixing chamber and a feed pump for transferring solid/liquid mixtures. Ice produced by the ice making apparatus is guided by the receiving means into the conveying mechanism which by means of its rotational and pressing actions transfers the ice to the crushing mechanism to be crushed into fragments of a suitable size. The ice fragments are mixed with the chilled water in the mixing chamber at a predetermined proportion. The mixture is then transferred by the feed pump to each ice storage tank.

6266945 - Ice supply system - Owned by Lancer Partnership, Ltd. (San Antonio, TX)

An ice supply system includes a dispenser system, an ice bagger system, and an ice transport system for providing a supply of ice. The ice transport system is operatively linked with the dispenser system for transporting ice to the dispenser system and with the ice bagger system for transporting ice to the ice bagger system.

6506428 - Ozone cleaning and sanitation method and apparatus for ice and ice conveyance systems - Owned by Lancer Ice Link, LLC (San Antonio, TX)

Apparatus and method are disclosed for production of ice and maintenance of an ice conveyance free of microbial contamination. Ozone is incorporated into water from which the ice is made, so that significant ozone content is present in the ice. This ice may be recovered for human consumption. The ice manufactured in the ice maker is conveyed through a conveyance system to one or more locations remote from the ice maker, where the ice is to be used. Ozone gas is evolved as the ice melts, sublimes or is abraded. The evolved ozone evolved penetrates into all areas of the system and kills substantially all microbial materials which are within the system. Cleanliness is thereafter maintained since passage of more ice and water though the system causes the evolution of additional ozone, which in turn kills any microbial contamination which may subsequently get into the system.

5549219 - Method and apparatus for cooling and preparing a beverage

Method and apparatus for preparing and dispensing a cool beverage utilizes a heat exchanger for directly contacting water and ice to produce cooled heat exchanger water in the heat exchanger from the water and ice and an outflow of the cooled heat exchanger water. A beverage concentrate flows through a beverage concentrate conduit that is in thermal contact with ice, preferably through direct contact with the cooled heat exchanger water. The beverage concentrate is thus cooled by indirectly contacting the ice to produce an outflow of cooled beverage concentrate. A proportioner and mixer receive the outflow of cooled heat exchanger water and the outflow of cooled beverage concentrate, and proportion and mix the outflows to produce a cool, proportioned, mixed beverage, which is dispensed from a dispensing valve. A carbonator is provided in heat exchange contact with ice, preferably through direct contact with the cooled heat exchanger water, for carbonating the outflow of cooled heat exchanger water to produce a carbonated beverage.

6827529 - Vacuum pneumatic system for conveyance of ice - Owned by Lancer Ice Link, LLC (San Antonio, TX)

Vacuum pneumatic conveying apparatus and method are described to provide for a simple, economical, convenient (and preferably automatic) system for conveying ice on an as-required basis from a source such as an ice maker to one or more receptors at locations remote from that source. The system can be configured such that dispensing locations can be added or eliminated from the system or temporarily taken "off line" from the system without the need to change the basic system configuration or the central ice providing apparatus. The apparatus in various embodiments includes an ice source, a conveying conduit from the source to the receptor, a vacuum pump for moving the ice through the conduit by vacuum, and the receptor to collect the conveyed ice. The receptor may be an ice/beverage dispenser, an accumulator for retention and discharge to further devices, an intermediate storage dispenser, or an air lock device from where the ice can be projected over significant distances. Ice and vacuum may simultaneously be routed into different branched routes, utilizing a unique diverter/air shifter with the capability of providing routing to up to four different routes. Appropriate sensors and controllers, which may be microprocessor-based, may be used to automate the system. The entire system is easily cleanable. The system is advantageously used by restaurants, groceries, hotels and motels, hospitals, laboratories, and many other establishments where the providing of ice at various locations is desirable or required.
