Abstract
A surface controlled subsurface safety valve having a main valve and an equalizing valve. The equalizing valve is opened prior to the opening of the main valve. An extra control pressure force is provided to open the equalizing valve against the resistive force present due to high shut-in formation pressures. On the other hand, the safety valve can close when low subsurface pressure conditions exist at the valve. This abstract is neither intended to define the scope of the invention, which, of course, is measured by the claims, nor is it intended to be limiting in any way.

5058682 - Equalizing means for a subsurface well safety valve - Owned by Camco International Inc. (Houston, TX)

A subsurface well safety valve for controlling the fluid flow through a well conduit which includes an equalizing line and an equalizing valve in the line. The equalizing line includes a passageway through the interior of the power spring which biases the safety valve to the closed position thereby routing the equalizing line through a simpler and less expensive structure. The equalizing valve is connected to the safety valve flow tube and is movable to a closed position in response to the power spring and is movable to an open position in response to the actuating piston and cylinder assembly.

4721162 - Fluid level controlled safety valve - Owned by Camco, Incorporated (Houston, TX)

A well safety valve for use in a fluid well conduit through which fluid is produced by pumping. A body is adapted to be inserted into the conduit and includes a passageway for well fluid. A valve in the passageway opens and closes in response to the fluid level or hydrostatic pressure in the conduit. When pumping is discontinued, the fluid level in the conduit increases to a predetermined high level to close the valve. When pumping begins, the fluid level falls and when it reaches a predetermined low level the valve is opened. The valve includes an equalizing device.

4722399 - Self closing equalizing valve for a subsurface well safety valve - Owned by Camco, Incorporated (Houston, TX)

A hydraulically actuated subsurface safety valve for controlling fluid flow through a well tubing by actuating a first piston and cylinder assembly through a fluid passageway. A positive valve seat and valve element closes the flow of fluid to the assembly when the safety valve is opened. An equalizing valve is provided in an equalizing line and is actuated by a second piston and cylinder assembly through a fluid communication line downstream of the positive valve seat and element. A fluid bypass bypasses the second piston and cylinder assembly for bleeding off the opening pressure to the equalizing valve for allowing the equalizing valve to be biased to the closed position.

4423782 - Annulus safety apparatus - Owned by Baker International Corporation (Orange, CA)

A hanger and valve assembly which can be employed as a safety valve assembly to close both the production tubing and the tubing-casing annulus in a subterranean well is disclosed. The assembly includes a hydraulically activated, mechanically locked hanger which has slip anchoring members engaging the casing or, exterior conduit for preventing movement in both longitudinal directions. The hanger also has annular packing elements to seal the tubing-casing annulus. An annulus safety valve member employing a longitudinally recessed resilient seal member can be mounted in a landing nipple mounted in the hanger. By recessing the seal it is protected from the turbulent flow through the valve. A second shuttle located in the landing nipple is employed in conjunction with the first annulus safety valve to permit flow in one direction while metering flow in the opposite direction. This assembly is especially useful for permitting the injection of treating fluids through the annulus and production through the tubing or inner conduit. A conventional safety valve is employed to prevent flow through the tubing when control pressure is lost or reduced. Both the valves and the hanger can be activated by control fluid pressure through the same control line. A setting sleeve which can be mounted in the annulus safety valve landing nipple prior to installation of the annulus safety valve can be used to permit the hanger to be set using control fluid pressure.

4749036 - Dual bore well treating tool - Owned by Dresser Industries, Inc. (Dallas, TX)

A dual bore well treating tool having a pressure operated valve therein that is useful in conjunction with a dual bore packer and with a dual bore on and off or connection tool. One of the bores through the on/off tool, the treating tool and the packer is utilized for producing oil and/or gas from the well bore, and a second bore is utilized for opening the valve and for simultaneously injecting a treating material into the fluid being produced.
