The invention set forth pertains to a toy in which a vehicle is moved past one side of a leading station as an object is transferred from the loading station to the vehicle. An inclined ramp is located on the loading station; a carrier is movably mounted on the ramp so as to be capable of being elevated from adjacent to the lower end of the ramp to adjacent to the upper end of the ramp. This carrier includes a platform which supports the object as the carrier is elevated along the ramp. The vehicle is moved along the side of the loading station so as to pass the lower end of the ramp and then to continue toward and beyond the upper end of the ramp, and is provided with a shelf at such a height as to be capable of receiving the object on the platform as the carrier is elevated along the ramp. The carrier and the vehicle are provided with structures which engage one another as the vehicle is so moved so that the vehicle serves to move the carrier along the ramp.
A transfer mechanism for use in a toy of the type incorporating "ball people" figurines to transfer the figurines from one location to a second location includes a base radially displaced from both the first and the second locations and a carrier which is rotatably mounted on the base. The carrier includes a support member having a first end which is movable in an arc between the first and second locations and a holding member which is pivotally mounted on the first end of the support member. A platform is located at the second location and includes an edge capable of being engaged by a portion of the holding member. The holding member is capable of swinging about its pivot; then it engages the platform. The edge of the platform includes a guide and when the first end of the support member approaches adjacent the second location the guide engages the holding member tilting the holding member allowing a "ball person" to roll off of the holding member onto the platform.
An educational toy that shows how watermelons and similar farm products are grown, harvested, and removed from the field in field trucks and taken to a packing shed where they are placed on conveyors and transferred to over the road trucks. These trucks take the melons to commission houses where they are put into wooden or cardboard bins. The bins are transferred to city trucks that finally deliver the melons to chain stores and fruit markets for sale. The various types of trucks and equipment are introduced at the appropriate time and all are manipulable by children in a teaching toy mode.
A toy is provided for lifting goods onto a stand-by portion and discharging them from the stand-by portion in response to the passing of an object. A goods lifting portion is pivotably supported by a vertical support member at a pivot point. A receiving portion is located at one end radially extending from the pivot point. An extension member is located at a second end radially extending from the pivot point for upwardly pivoting the receiving portion to empty the goods from the receiving portion onto the stand-by portion when the support member reaches a predetermined vertical distance. A contact member provides a force upon the passing of an object. A separating and discharging member rotatingly receives goods of a predetermined quantity from the stand-by portion and discharges the goods when the contact member provides the force. A retaining member disables the separating and discharging member when both positionally moved to a predetermined position and the absence of a magnetic force is detected.
