Abstract
This invention relates to improvements in the manufacture of devices applicable to dolls that simulate physiological functions. On exerting pressure on a tank of water situated in the interior of the doll, a tube which commences in the interior of the tank below the level of the water, conducts a small flow of the said water towards the interior of the mouth of the doll and surrounding areas, although in a position in the mouth in front of a second tube which commences in the interior of the tank and in the area not occupied by water, with the purpose that the same pressure should originate a current of air which, on emerging adjacent to the first tube and also in the interior of the mouth, causes the creation of small bubbles and the outlet of small amounts of water that simulate the dribbling of the doll and because a third tube for filling the tank also commences in the interior of the mouth of the doll so that on placing a bottle of water into the mouth the filling of the tank is produced. A regulating valve is provided in the third tube so that the surplus quantity may be evacuated through this third tube up to a place appropriately situated in the anatomy of the doll, thus simulating the physiological function of urination.

5083962 - Doll capable of bodily functions

The present invention provides a doll (10) which is arranged to be fed both liquids and non-liquids or solids. These are received in respective first and second chambers (20, 22). The present invention also provides a chamber pot (54) for a doll (10). Further, the present invention provides a casing (98) for enclosing or enveloping a doll (10) to simulate the womb. The present invention allows for a visual explanation of childbirth and childcare to be given to young children. This may be supplemented by instructions from another source, e.g. an adult or text.

6033229 - Medical device for toilet training young children - Owned by Scherman; Susan L. (Weehawken, NJ)

A medical device comprises a model of a male child with a urination-simulating mechanism including a removable reservoir disposed interiorly of the model for holding a liquid and a pumping mechanism for expelling the liquid from the reservoir into a passage upon actuation of the pumping mechanism. A penis member on the model has an opening simulating the urethral opening in a human penis, and the passage is in communication with the opening. The arms of the model are movable and Velcro.RTM. fastening material on the penis member and on the hands of the model attach the hands to the penis member in a manner that illustrates how an adult male grasps his penis during urination. The model is placed in front of a toilet with the opening in the penis member pointed toward the toilet bowl and with the hands attached to the penis member, and the adult performing the demonstration actuates the pumping mechanism to expel liquid from the opening and simulate urination.

6234862 - Animal toy having simulated liquid drinking and wetting action - Owned by Mattel, Inc. (El Segundo)

A toy figure resembling a four-legged animal includes a resilient body having a back portion and a head defining a mouth passage. A liquid filled bottle is insertable into the mouth of the figure to transfer liquid into the interior of the figure. A single direction flow valve couples the transferred liquid from the mouth through a throat housing and ultimately into a resilient liquid bladder supported within the body of the toy figure. The toy figure body further supports a discharge valve coupled to a downwardly open discharge port which is operated by a vertically extending actuating rod supported within the bladder. The actuating rod and discharge valve as well as the discharge port define communicating passages which provide an air vent for the bladder during filling. A quantity of liquid is discharged downwardly through the discharge port by pressing upon the toy figure body with sufficient force to depress the actuating rod and open the discharge valve.

6709310 - Soft-bodied drink and wet doll - Owned by Goldberger Doll Co. (Brooklyn, NY)

A soft-bodied drink-and-wet doll having a hard head and a hard butt or crotch area, a soft, stuffed body connecting the head and butt areas, and a fluid conduit connecting the mouth in the head and a hole in the butt. The hard butt area avoids liquid "evacuated" by the doll from being absorbed by the soft body portion.

5094644 - Doll having delayed wetting and crying action - Owned by Mattel, Inc. (El Segundo, CA)

A doll includes a hollow head and torso and generally replicates a human infant in appearance. The head portion defines an orifice for the introduction of a liquid such as water through simulated nursing. The water is initially received within the doll interior in a first reservoir which is effectively isolated from a second reservoir within the doll torso by a siphon tube coupling. The siphon tube coupling serves to delay the transfer of liquid from the first reservoir to the second reservoir until a predetermined amount of liquid has been introduced. The second reservoir includes a flexible wall portion which bulges outwardly when filled with water to trigger a switch which enables an internally supported sound generating system to produce crying action. In an alternate embodiment, the first and second reservoirs are combined within a common water tank and interconnected by a siphon passage. In the alternate embodiment, the sound generator is enabled by a pair of electrical contacts positioned within the siphon passage.
