The height of the arch of an arch-support member is adjustable by turning a screw that is positioned between the insole and the sole of a shoe. A lever extends from the central portion of the arch support downwardly through the insole to the adjusting screw. The lever turns about the insole as a fulcrum in response to adjustment of the screw for varying the height of the arch-support member.
A shoe construction for providing girthing support to the midfoot region of the foot is disclosed. The present invention provides for adjusting the perimeter of the transverse girth of a shoe in the midfoot region under varying conditions of loading. When the foot is in an unloaded condition, the dynamic girth of the present invention has no effect on the original girthing tension. Then as the foot is loaded and everted, girthing fibers or straps are forced into an undulating surface. When the everted foot becomes loaded completely, the girthing straps become mated with the undulating surface in close contiguous contact, thus pulling in the girth straps and producing maximum tension on the midfoot region. The undulating surface may be provided in the outsole so as to be positioned below the girthing straps or, alternatively, in a portion of the shoe positioned above the girthing straps. The girth structure of the present invention creates girthing tension dynamically to prevent excessive eversion when the foot loads the shoe.
Sport boot including a sole overlaid by an upper, the boot having an internal support surface for the foot and a portion for supporting the arch of the user's foot, wherein the supporting portion is constituted by a flexible, elastically deformable element positioned between the internal support surface and an internal lateral flank of the upper, and wherein it includes a volume adjusting mechanism which it demarcates with the upper, by acting on its profile, along at least one transverse plane with respect to the longitudinal axis of the foot.
The aim of the invention is to design a sole (1), and a shoe with such a sole (1), so that the length of the sole (1) or of the upper attached to it can be easily adjusted, using adjustment means (11), to meet the needs of the wearer of the shoe. This is achieved by virtue of the act that a front thrust block (7) is fitted at the rear (5) of the front sole (2) and a rear thrust block (8) at the front (6) of the rear sole (3). The shoe is fitted with at least one adjustment means (11) which forms a force-locking connection with the two thrust blocks (7, 8), the jointed section (4) thus being adjustable by the adjustment means (11) to various lengths.
Footwear having a substantially concealed means for girth adjustment is described. The girth adjustment means is provided by shoe insole assemblies wherein the contours and thicknesses of the side edges vary relative to those of the longitudinally central portions of the insole assemblies which remain substantially constant.
