A closure including a rigid thermoplastic member with a horizontally extending first portion occupying a major portion of the cross-sectional area within the loading aperture which is surrounded by the loading member of the hopper car, a second portion extending upwardly from the first portion which is inwardly adjacent of the interior of the loading member and a third portion extending outwardly from the second portion and overlaying the top of the loading member and underlaying the hatch cover of the hopper car when the hatch cover is in its closed position. Also a flexible plastic member overlaying the rigid thermoplastic member and the loading member and underlaying the hatch cover when the hatch cover is in its closed position.
A storage container blank for articulation into a wedding gown box container for the long term storage of gowns in a manner which prevents the entry of dust and other contaminants into the container, thus preserving the gown. A series of operably joined panels form a lower storage container cavity and an additional series of integrated operably joined panels form an upper storage container cover capable of telescopically covering the cavity upon articulation. The lower storage container cavity includes integrated contaminant barrier elements to preclude the entry of dust and other contaminants therewithin. In one embodiment an inspection insert panel is preliminarily placed over the gown within the lower storage container cavity before positioning of the upper storage container cover portion over the lower storage container cavity to enclose same.
The present invention relates to a hatch cover for hopper cars, the hatch cover being made substantially of polymeric materials. The hatch cover of the invention comprises a lid having an inside and outside surface, a rim defining the edges of the inside surface, and a locking arm fixedly attached to the outside surface. A flat piece of metal is embedded in the lid having its geometric center substantially coincident with the geometric center of the lid to provide reinforcement therefor. The locking arm is reinforced with a steel channel for rigidity. The locking arm is attached to the lid using a single bolt which connects the channel of the locking arm with the flat piece of metal of the lid. A method of making the hatch cover is provided which comprises making the lid and the locking arm in the desired shape by reaction injection molding a polymeric material around the flat piece of metal and the channel respectively.
A sterilizer container comprising a lower base portion, cover, and an intermediate cover which is installed in a sealing manner on the inwardly drawn edge of the lower base portion. The cover includes an overlapping flange. A flow passage, leading to a tortuous path, is defined by the overlapping flange of the cover and the inwardly drawn edge of the lower base portion. The exchange of fluent media between the interior and the exterior of the container takes place through the flow passage and the tortuous path. The intermediate cover is connected with the cover in a detachable manner and has perforations in its middle segment which are covered by a filter. This filter is pushed against the peripheral segment of the intermediate cover by means of a sealing ring which is supported by the cover. The intermediate cover can be provided with valves effective in two directions in place of perforations whereby an equalization of pressure is possible. In this case, the filter is omitted.
A moisture barrier seal for use on a hopper car hatch opening that does not need to be removed before vacuum unloading of the hopper car due to the use of a grained plastic such as vertically drawn or cast polyethylene which will rupture as soon as the seal is subjected to the pressure differential across the seal created by the application of vacuum to the hopper car. The moisture barrier layer when combined with a filter layer forms a combination moisture barrier and filter seal.
