The invention relates to an ink capable of producing writing or marking on a non-absorbent or impermeable surface, which can easily be wiped off. The disadvantages inherent in the known inks are overcome by adding ester compounds of a certain composition to the ink.
An ethanol type marking ink composition comprises ethanol as a main solvent, titanium oxide and a condensation product of urea and aliphatic aldehydes. The composition is less toxic and gives good fixability, weather resistance and fastness of drawing lines. The redispersing property of titanium oxide is good even after a long time storage.
Aromatic compound-free solvent for printing inks, consisting of a solvent mixture characterised in that is contains (a) 80-99% by weight aromatic compound-free mineral oil; (b) 1 to 20% by weight of an ester of a C.sub.8 -C.sub.2 fatty acid with up to 60 C atoms in total; and/or (c) 1 to 20% by weight of a fatty alcohol with 6 to 36 C atoms. Also disclosed are printing inks that contain binders, pigments, aromatic compound-free solvents and optional additives.
