In a pediatric water mattress, of the type for use for therapeutic purposes for enhancing the health attributes of an infant particularly after premature birth, the mattress incorporates a pair of inner liners that are sealed together around their perimeter to form a water holding chamber, a pair of outer liners, said outer liners being larger than the inner liners and forming a minor capacity air chamber in which the inner water chamber is located, a valve connecting through the lower outer and inner liners for providing access into the inner chamber for admission of water therein, with another valve connecting through the upper liner for providing access into the outer chamber for determining its contents, a covered guard means surrounding the mattress and being adhered coextensively with the outer periphery of the outer chamber, and an inflatable pillow formed for attachment upon the uppermost surface of the outer liner for providing comfort and therapeutic positioning of any infant resting upon the mattress.
A water bed construction which includes a water and air containing bladder and an innerspring support for the same, the bladder and support combination being enclosed within a covering, the covering material being removable from the combination. The entire assembly giving the appearance of a standard innerspring, mattress combination.
A water bed crib comprising a water bed structure including a flat horizontal rectangular platform with an upwardly projecting weir about its perimeter, a water filled flexible mattress bladder supported atop the platform within the confines of the weir, platform legs at and depending from the four corner portions of the platform, floor engaging caster wheels at the lower end portions of the platform legs, crib frame leg supporting brackets projecting outwardly from the platform legs; a rectangular crib frame with vertical end boards and vertical side gates engaged about the water bed structure and having crib frame legs depending from its four corners and engaging the brackets on the platform legs; the crib frame legs have caster pintle receiving openings in their lower ends and the brackets have retaining pintles engaged in said openings.
A portable water cooled mattress for use with infants or the like comprising an air bladder lower level constructed of an air proof material and including an inflation and deflation opening valve. A water bladder layer is positioned on a top surface of the air bladder and includes a fill and empty spout valve while a pocket is formed between the water bladder and air bladder suitable for inserting either heating and/or cooling packs as desired. An insulating upper layer covers the water bladder preventing the child from becoming dampened from condensation.
A baby rest for placement upon a support surface employs a generally C-shaped inflatable tube member surrounded by padding, the combination of the tube member and padding encased in a generally circular outer fabric cover. The outer cover substantially traverses the center area of the C-shaped tube, thereby creating a thinly padded, central rest area on which an infant may lie. The tube member can be inflated to varying degrees, such that the tube member and the surrounding padding create a peripheral guard around the center rest area of sufficient height to prevent an infant from rolling out of the proportionally smaller rest area.
A fancifully-shaped crib bumper having stuffed legs serving in the traditional role of a crib bumper, as well as stuffed arms that provide added protection higher up on the side of a crib. The tubular arms and legs of the novel crib bumper are stuffed by using rolled fiberfill batting, which is placed in an insertion device that may be either preformed in a tubular shape or may comprise a flexible sheet material that is rolled around the rolled fiberfill batting. The use of the insertion device permits the rolled fiberfill batting to be inserted into a crib bumper leg or arm in a simple, easy manner, and is then removed, leaving the fiberfill batting in place. The fiberfill batting is then securely attached to the outer casing of the crib bumper by stitching.
