A building panel in which transverse beam segments bracing primary beams or studs are comprised of particle board. Also disclosed is an assembly of panels in which the panels are coupled by bridging a plurality of transverse beam segments in pairs by means such as respective gang nail plates. Finally, a method of construction entailing an site cutting and assembly of extended panels is described.
The method comprises: the prefabrication of pairs of frames (21, 23) having a shaped surface (25) in order to form, in two contiguous segments or blocks (11), matched coupling surfaces for perfect in situ coupling; the arrangement of a plurality of spaced pairs of frames (21, 23) in a formwork apparatus for concrete castings; the simultaneous formation, in said apparatus, of a plurality of contiguous segments or blocks, each incorporating a frame (21; 23) at both ends, and each having an end surface (25) perfectly matched with the abutting surface of the contiguous segment or block.
Rigid structural members, profiles, joints, and forms added to structural sandwich panels to provide higher strength, integral joining joint, and single facing sheet manufacturing. Facing sheets (20) and (22), rigid structural members (24) and (26), latch side and pin side cam-locks (34) and (32), fabricated wire truss assembly (48), and rigid structural headers (28) and (30) and an integrated top plate (29) are positioned into containment form assembly (58) in the proper position. Facing sheets (20) and (22) are placed in position in the containment form assembly (58) forming a structural sandwich panel assembly. A foam resin core material (40) is injected into the structural sandwich panel assembly and allowed to cure. The resultant structural sandwich panel includes rigid structural members (24) and (26) and elongated recesses (36) and (38) which also form a joint for joining abutting structural sandwich panels together and cam-locks (32) and (34) used to secure adjoining panels together. Comer and angle panels have a comer rigid structural assembly (44).
Horizontal panels, each consisting of top and bottom horizontal studs, with gypsum boards affixed therebetween, are stacked vertically, with suitable means for maintaining the wall vertical.
A method for assembling multi-unit, party wall residential buildings employs fire-resistant structural panels which are manufactured off-site and installed in the structure as completed party walls. The individual units are assembled side-by-side and thereafter the factory-assembled, fire-resistant party wall panels are introduced into the building covering the contiguous walls of the individual units. Satisfactory fire ratings for the resulting buildings can be achieved. The fire-resistant wall sections are fabricated from a frame which is covered with fire-resistant panels on both surfaces and filled with acoustical insulation.
The present invention relates to a modular panel construction comprising a plurality of generally rectangular, individual panel sections. The panel sections include side coupling brackets for interconnecting the adjacent side marginal edges of adjacent panel sections. A tongue and groove arrangement is provided for coupling the lower marginal edge of an upper section with the upper marginal edge of an adjacent lower section. The plurality of sections cooperate to form a wall panel having an outer periphery defined by the arrangement of the panel sections. A pair of spaced apart hinge brackets are utilized to pivotally connect one wall panel to a second wall panel.
