Abstract
In a case structure comprising a base member and a detachable cover having a pair of side walls adapted to be hingedly and interlockingly connected to the base member, the provision of a combined hinge and locking device comprising an elongated connecting member including an inwardly extending hook-shaped projection and an elongated, flexible and bendable, lengthwise extending hinge member intermediate the side walls and the connecting member. The base member includes a pair of lengthwise extending grooves for engagement with the hook-shaped projections of the cover and a pair of end walls.

A lens disinfecting unit comprises a housing with adjacent compartments separated by a barrier wall. One compartment is adapted to receive the lens case for heating while the other compartment contains the heater and related circuitry. The barrier wall includes a heat sink which is insert-molded into the barrier wall to provide a water-tight seal such spilled liquid cannot leak from the lens case compartment to the heater compartment. The casing for the unit is made up of sections permitting sequential assembly, namely, two members are employed, one being a lid pivotally mounted over the heating well and the other being snap-fitted over the compartment containing the circuitry; and a third member serves to maintain the other two members in captive relationship.

Like the bins (70), a top compartment (63) having a pivotal cover (64) can also carry smaller items of jewelry.

The housing is also provided with a rotatable cam element for engagement with a slot formed in the bottom cover section for releasably locking the cover assembly to the housing. The bottom cover section may also serve as a the mounting frame for securing the device to a support surface in a vehicle.
