A front lighted display for an instrument dial face and pointer, including in combination with such dial face and pointer and according to one embodiment, a plurality of light emitting diodes (LED) positioned around the inner periphery of an LED mounting and directing light rays onto the dial face, a conically shaped reflector positioned to reflect light from the LEDs onto the dial face, a center disc reflector having an LED mounted thereon to enhance illumination of the pointer hub and center area of the dial face presentation, and an LED baffle ring preventing direct viewing of the diodes, and which can have a light reflecting inner surface to redirect light from the LEDs onto the surface of the dial face. According to another embodiment incorporating a digital readout presentation on the dial face, the LEDs are positioned and oriented around the outer periphery of a lighting head to make the light rays of each diode overlap and provide a uniformly lighted dial face presentation, without utilizing the conically shaped reflector of the first embodiment. In addition, LEDs are mounted behind a digital counter mask for illumination of the digital readout presentation.
An instrument panel includes a housing having an open end, an instrument body having a dial and arranged within the housing, a red light-emitting diode mounted on the dial, a green light-emitting diode mounted on the dial, a blue light-emitting diode mounted on the dial, a control means fitted within the housing and electrically connected with the red, green and blue light emitting diodes for selectively controlling the light emitting diodes to give light, and a cover mounted on the open end of the housing for keeping the instrument body within the housing, whereby the instrument panel can emit lights with different colors as desired.
The invention includes a lighted serving tray comprised of a discus shaped platter with an interior hollow in which a tubular light array is positioned. The tray includes a serving surface upon which drink glasses are to be placed, and which includes a clear, lens portion through which light is transmitted to illuminate an etched sponsor logo. The base portion of the tray is, in one embodiment, a translucent and is colored to transmit colored light during use. A change/power case is affixed to the tray to house a power supply and to provide a change compartment for use by wait staff.
Illumination device for the dial (4) of a display device formed by a case (1) sealed by a crystal (8) arranged above the dial (4) and held by a fitting ring (9), said device including at least one light source (13, 33, 35, 43, 53) arranged in at least one recess arranged in at least one light guide (20, 30, 40, 50) positioned at the periphery of the dial (4), said guide having a polished internal surface (21) oriented towards the dial (4) and an external surface (22) held in a space delimited by the dial (4), the crystal (8) and the inner wall (10) of the fitting ring (9), characterised in that all or part of said external surface (22) of the guide is arranged to allow a progressive increase along the guide (20, 30, 40, 50) of the quantity of light diffused by said external wall gradually as one moves away from one of the light sources (13, 33, 35, 43, 53).
A display device for use in a vehicle includes display lamps for displaying various states, and a centralized control substrate on which electronic parts for driving the display lamps are mounted. The centralized control substrate is extended backwardly of the display lamps in a direction to visually recognize the display lamps.
An arrangement for conveniently changing the illumination in an aircraft cockpit or other enclosure to a spectrum compatible with night vision infrared equipment including provision for easy return to the original illumination source. Selected LED elements are employed in multiple element arrays using a tether connected package that can be excited directly from existing wiring in fixtures.
