An alarm clock including clock having a control circuit with a solenoid switch, and a rack having an upright post with a magnet, wherein when the alarm circuit of the clock is ringing, the battery lid and the alarm button of the clock are locked if the clock is not put in the rack; when the lock is put in the rack as the alarm circuit of the clock is ringing, a solenoid switch is induced by a magnet in the rack to unlock the battery lid and the alarm button, for permitting the user to turn off the alarm.
A novelty alarm clock having an alarm clock means with an external push-button alarm shut-off and a resilient air filled flexible casing surrounding the clock means; the casing including a trigger means connected to the alarm shut-off and terminating in a portion of the exterior of the casing; the portion being manipilable so as to permit pushing or pulling of the shut-off.
An alarm clock system with a remote control is provided, which includes an alarm clock base unit with an audible alarm, and a remote controller for suspending, or delaying, operation of an activated alarm signal. A limited number of times in which such delaying of the alarm signal can be activated may be preselected, for stimulating the operator to rise out of bed in order to deactivate the alarm.
A novelty alarm clock system incorporating a game of skill comprises an alarm clock base unit including a clock assembly operative to display the current time and to audibly reproduce an audible alarm when the current time corresponds to a preselected alarm time, and a sensing element. The sensing element detects a remotely actuated alarm interruption signal and, in response thereto, discontinues the audible alarm for at least an interval of time. A game of skill is introduced by the manner in which the alarm interruption signal is remotely actuated. Specifically, a remote hand-held unit supplies a narrowly focused visible beam of light which must be precisely aligned with the sensing element (i.e., the target) on the alarm clock base unit in order to terminate or suspend reproduction of the audible alarm signal. Illustrative embodiments of the remote unit include a toy gun configuration, in which the focused beam passed through a barrel, and a wand structure, in which the focused beam passes through a bore through the wand and out an opening at one end.
An alarm clock with a local alarm system including a movement-operated switch, a normally-closed key-operated switch and an audible alarm device connected in series across the power lines. The switch-operating key may be remotely located so as to require the user to leave his bed in order to obtain the key, insert it in the key-operated switch, and turn the key so as to shut off the alarm. The system may include a time delay latching arrangement to prevent immediate latching the key switch open and to require the user to hold the key turned for a predetermined delay period, sufficient to produce wakefulness of the user. A signal lamp shows the delay period to be in effect until the period has been completed, thereby requiring the user to manually hold the key-operated switch open until the lamp becomes extinguished.
