A rear projection screen for a projection television. The screen includes a pair of plastic sheets, each having lenticular embossments on one side thereof. The embossments are arranged in rows in one direction and alternate embossments are staggered in the opposite direction. The plastic sheets are positioned back-to-back with their lenticular embossed sides facing outwardly. The sheets are oriented with the machine direction of one sheet extending at right angles to the machine direction of the other sheet. The plastic sheets are separated either by glass or can be laminated to a transparent plastic. The lenticular embossments are generally parabolic in shape. Plastic sheets having either approximately 10,000 embossments per square inch or 40,000 lenticular embossments per square inch may be used.
A screen is constituted of a sheet having a first lens array, and a second lens array formed in the interior of said sheet, wherein each lens of said second lens array is arranged in correspondence with each lens of said first lens array.
A longitudinal-stripe lenticular lens screen and a transverse-stripe lenticular lens screen are superposed, and a light diffusing agent is mixed only in the longitudinal-stripe lenticular lens screen. Therefore, the light transmittance is high although the angle of view can be three-dimensionally widened by the two lenticular lens screens. In addition, since scan lines of an image are blurred by two diffusion planes, Moire becomes inconspicuous.
A projection screen (1) made of a laminated glass which has at least two glass plates (3, 4) bonded to each other by means of a layer of plastic (2) is described. In order to create advantageous construction conditions, it is proposed that the glass plate (3) facing the projection bears on its outer side (6) a translucent ceramic coating extending at least over the projection area and that the glass plate (4) facing away from the projection preferably has a surface roughness preventing reflections.
A polymer sheet for use in a projection screen comprises polyorgano silsesquioxane microspheres that enhance light diffusing characteristics. Also disclosed is a projection screen comprising at least two glass plates and the polymer sheet disposed therebetween. Also disclosed is a method of manufacturing a polymer sheet by incorporating the microspheres with the polymer.
