A fill valve for controlling liquid level in a toilet tank or other tank includes a housing with an inlet, an outlet, a valve, and a level sensing mechanism for opening the valve to permit flow when the liquid level is below a predetermined value. A flow impedance path including a compact array of many baffles defining multiple consecutive right angle turns dissipates fluid pressure without substantial velocity increases and consequent cavitation and noise. Stable valve closure when the predetermined level is reached is effected by the mounting and configuration of a valve control lever. The fill valve may be disassembled for service without removal from the tank. A coupling and mounting nut assembly facilitates mounting without tools in a variety of tanks. A backflow preventer including few simple parts may be incorporated to provide redundant cross-connection protection.
A water level adjustment device including a reservoir positioned within a hole formed adjacent to an in-ground swimming pool. The reservoir has an opening therein for coupling with a water supply line. An outlet pipe extends between the reservoir and the swimming pool. The outlet pipe is disposed below the water supply line. A water shut-off valve is coupled with the water supply line inwardly of the reservoir.
A device that maintains the water level of a swimming pool within acceptable limits. The device includes a valve member that has a valve chamber and a diaphragm chamber. The valve member is held in submerged relation to the water level in the pool by a weighted member that is provided with a stabilizer so that the correct position of the submerged valve member is maintained at all times. A garden hose is connected at one end to a source of water under pressure and its other end is connected to the valve chamber. One side of the diaphragm is exposed to the water in the pool and its other side is exposed to atmospheric pressure so that when the pool level changes, the change is detected by the diaphragm. An on-off valve in the valve chamber is normally closed so that a valve at the water source may be left in its open position at all times. A drop in the water level displaces the diaphragm and the displacement of the diaphragm opens the valve in the valve chamber so that water from the water source is admitted into the pool. The valve in the valve chamber closes when the water level rises to a desired level, which rise is detected by the diaphragm.
A faucet spring utilized to urge the faucet seal member into sealing contact with the rotatable valving member and prevent large debris, such as valve washer screws from previous faucet assemblies, from contacting the valving member under the fluid pressure. The coil spring has a substantially frusto-conical configuration with a smaller diameter upper end which engages the seal and urges it against the valving member. The larger diameter lower end of the spring engages an annular shoulder of the counterbored inlet passage of the valve assembly. The lower end of the spring also includes an obstruction member formed as an extension of the coil spring which extends into the opening of the spring's lower end to prevent large debris from traveling through the spring and seal. As a result, the faucet spring provides the added function of preventing potentially damaging debris from contacting the valving member.
A pressure regulator for supplying water to an associated watering system for poultry or the like includes a top works structure and a bottom works structure which are formed of few parts, which are easy to manufacture and assemble together. The top works structure includes a cover seated within a cover and a reference spring assembly which includes a reference spring and a diaphragm membrane. The reference spring assembly can be adjusted to vary the outlet pressure of the regulator. The bottom works structure includes a body having an inlet through which water flows into the regulator from a supply and an outlet through which water flows out from the regulator to the associated watering system. A structure is provided for substantially isolating said diaphragm from water pressure in said regulator during flushing of the regulator and the associated watering system and during conditions of higher-demand for water. An ejector tube arrangement is provided in the housing outlet for boosting the flow of water through the regulator under a higher demand condition.
Disclosed is a fill valve and mounting adapter assembly combination for tank-type toilets and the like which renders the fill valve internally and instantly mountable and dismountable without the necessity of separating the mounting adapter assembly from the tank and the water delivery line. The mounting adapter is T-shaped, hollow and provides water communication, when the adapter is mounted on the tank, through the interior of the adapter, between the water line and the interior of the tank and comprises an outwardly projecting circular platform on the upper end thereof having a lower surface with a hole in the center thereof and a circumferential circular vertical wall with a pair of inwardly projecting and opposing retention tabs at its upper end which tabs and the bottom wall and side wall of the platform form a recessed trough therein adapted to receive and seat a fill valve in the platform, which valve seats on a pair of o-ring seals providing a water tight seal between the fill valve and the mounting platform. A unitary axially positioned hollow shank portion in water tight communication with and projecting downwardly from the lower surface of the mounting platform has a threaded exterior adapted to seal in cooperation with mounting and connecting nuts the mounting assembly to the tank and to the water line. The fill valve is rendered instantly and digitally rotably mountable and dismountable from the tank of a tank-type toilet without disassembly of the mounting or connecting assemblies, which fill valve comprises a circular base having two opposing compression cams adapted to seat and seal the fill valve in the trough of the platform of the mounting adapter.
