Abstract
A clamp assembly for sealing a leaking pipe weld or pipe flange joints. The clamp comprises a collar having hinged-together arcuate segments. The collar is further provided with flanges adapted to be bolted together to connect the hinged segments which may be hinged together to form a pair of semi-circular sections. Each of the segments is provided with a main annular groove on the interior circumference with means on the exterior for filling the groove with a fluid sealant under pressure. A pair of annular border grooves spaced from the main groove are provided on the opposite sides of the main groove. Additional groove means are provided in the end walls of each of the segments which connect the main groove and the border grooves to provide a sealing means between the opposed end walls when butted together.

6612341 - Securing shell assemblies to pipelines - Owned by Lattice Intellectual Property Limited (London,GB)

A method for securing a shell assembly to a pipeline. A two part shell assembly is secured to the pipeline and holds in position an annular sealing arrangement located about a predetermined area of the outer surface of the pipeline. The sealing arrangement includes a containment ring surrounding an annular seal. The containment ring is provided with connected through passages so that sealant can be introduced by a hole in the assembly into the passages to provide sealing between the containment ring and the pipeline, and between the containment ring and the shell assembly. Thus, should the annular seal fail during service the introduced sealant provides a seal.

4756338 - Pipe repair assemblies to repair pipe when fluids therein are under high pressure - Owned by Thrust Corporation (Spanaway, WA)

When a pipe confining fluid under pressure develops a leak, a selected respective pipe repair assembly is used to stop the leak, while the pipe continues trying to confine the fluid under pressure. There is no need to shut down operations. A cylinder, provided in two longitudinal sections, with one section having an opened central valve and an inner sealing gasket with a hole matching the entry of the opened central valve, is secured around the pipe and over the leaking area. During the positioning of this pipe repair assembly, a half cylindrical sleeve with an upstanding end tab, and a hole with a partial length central longitudinal opening is provided for protective initial interior placement over the sealing gasket. This tab fits into an end notch on one longitudinal section, to thereby position the hole with a partial length central longitudinal opening in horizontal alignment with the opening of the valve. As so arranged and presecured, without complete tightening, this pipe repair assembly is moved sideways along the pipe and over the leak, placing the open valve over the leak. The exiting fluid is then directed out of the valve. Thereafter, the half cylindrical sleeve is withdrawn, having completed its protection of the sealing gasket from the fluid under high pressure leaving the pipe through the leak. Then the pipe repair assembly is tightened and the valve is closed, stopping the leak.

5301983 - Pipe component seal assembly

A pipe component seal assembly comprising a pipe system component capable of carrying a fluid under pressure and having means communicating to the atmosphere through which the fluid in the pipe system component can flow, a housing secured to the outer surface of the pipe system component surrounding the communicating means and in which a sealant under pressure is maintained in contact with the communicating means, and a charger attached to the housing and having an opening therein communicating with the interior of the housing through an opening in the housing and means to force sealant from the charger under pressure into the interior of the housing through the two openings.

4927181 - Apparatus and method for sealing leaks

The present invention is an apparatus and related method for sealing leaks at the surface of an article, comprising a plurality of interlocking links constructed to form a circumferential collar on the circumferential surface surrounding a leak. The links are constructed and arranged to exert radial pressure on the circumferential surface of the article. A sealing means is disposed between the circumferential surface of the article and the links.

4576401 - Leak repair clamp - Owned by Team, Inc. (Houston, TX) [*] Notice:The portion of the term of this patent subsequent to October 16, 1996 has been disclaimed.

A leak repair clamp for pipe and pipe flanges includes a frame having a plurality of one piece frame segments positionable in end-to-end relationship around the pipe. Each segment includes a pair of spaced apart metal lips which are adapted to form a metal-to-metal seal with a pipe or flanges when the frame segments are connected together. Access means are provided in each frame segment to permit the passes of liquid sealant into the recess defined by the lips and the pipe.
