The disclosure relates to a latch mechanism for controlling reclining movement of a vehicle seat back. A pair of spring loaded latches are engageable with an articulated slidable link to latch the seat at a desired reclining position. The latches are manually movable to an unlatched condition relative to the link at which time the link "floats" therebetween.
The disclosure relates generally to latch mechanisms for controlling reclining movement of a vehicle seat back and more particularly to a seat back latch that precludes audible "ratcheting" of the latch thereof. A spring loaded pawl is engageable with an articulated slidable arm to latch the seat at a desired reclining position. The pawl is pivoted so as to bias the arm away from the teeth thereon due to an angular relationship between the pawl and arm when the arm is released for movement.
The disclosure relates to a quick release latch mechanism for controlling reclining movement of a vehicle seat back. A spring loaded pawl is engageable with an articulated slidable arm to latch the seat at a desired reclining position. The pawl is pivoted so as to bias the arm away from the teeth thereon due to an angular relationship between the pawl and arm when the arm is released for movement. A cam plate having a lost motion connection with a manual operator controls opening of the latch mechanism.
A seat recliner mechanism for controllably adjusting the angular position of a seat back relative to a seat member in response to actuation by a seat occupant is disclosed. The seat recliner mechanism includes a rod adapted to be operatively connected to one of the seat back and the seat member. The recliner mechanism is pivotally connected to the other of the seat back or the seat member and is configured to receive a portion of the rod for linear movement relative thereto. The mechanism includes a split nut assembly engaging the rod which is movable between a first position inhibiting linear movement of the rod and a second position permitting linear movement of the rod. A clamp assembly having a passage for encasing the split nut assembly is provided and which has at least one pivotable lock clamp member adapted to reduce the cross-section of the passage when pivoted in a first direction and to enlarge the cross-section when pivoted in a second direction. The clamp assembly includes an actuation device for pivoting the lock clamp member in the second direction to move the split nut assembly from the first position to the second position.
The present invention provides an incremental linear vehicle recliner seat. The invention utilizes a polygonal rod with threaded apices which is pivotally connected with the seat back. The rod is surrounded with a nut connected with the seat cushion. The nut is rotated alternatively between a locking position to threadably engage the apices of the rod and a release position allowing the rod to slide through the nut thereby allowing the angular position of the seat back to be adjusted.
A manual drive for producing rotary movement in both clockwise and counterclockwise directions includes a drive lever which has a neutral position from which it can move into a first or second rotary direction. Attached to the drive lever are a pair of detent elements, one controlling clockwise rotation of the drive wheel and the other controlling counter-clockwise rotation. The detent elements have teething elements on a free end for engagement with a drive wheel which has counter teething about its circumference. The detent elements engage the drive wheel in the neutral position. The detent elements slide in a slide guide which lifts one of the detent elements out of engagement with the drive wheel when the drive lever moves in the opposite rotary direction. Springs located on either side of the slide guide lift the detent element on the drive side out of engagement with the drive wheel as the drive lever returns to the neutral position.
