Abstract
A cabinet has an upper portion which encloses a ram member movable vertically by a motor driven scissor-type actuator from an upper retracted position to a lower extended compacting position within a container positioned within the lower portion of the cabinet. The container is molded of a plastics material and is supported by a two-wheeled cart including pivotal arms which extend around an intermediate portion of the container and are locked together for restraining the container during compacting. When the container is tilted by the cart into a compacting position under the ram member, the container actuates a sealing frame which lowers and engages the upper rim of the container for confining within the upper portion of the cabinet any odors released by the material being compacted within the container.

5001977 - Trash compactor adapted to be slidably positioned in a container

A removable, self-powered trash compactor particularly suited for aircraft tray carts. The compactor includes a rechargeable battery to power a motor that drives a screw drive connected with a scissor type extension linkage attached to a platen designed to permit the passage of liquids around said platen to minimize pressure exerted on walls and floor of container, carts and carriers. The food service tray guides support a plastic or fiberboard sheet to restrain resilient waste matter from returning to its original shape and permitting a disposable flexible liner to interfold underneath the compactor and surround the compactor until the first cycle wherein the liner unfolds and encompasses the cart, carrier or container space, thereby obtaining the compactor to support the disposable liner and permitting the fitting of an interfolded cover over the entire compactor inside the liner to permit the compactor to compress waste and keep waste matter from contact with the compactor mechanisms.

5447017 - Automatic waste recycling machine and disposal system

This present invention relates to an automatic recycling machine and automatic waste disposal system for plural types of household and commercial waste materials which automatically sorts, processes, shreds, crushes, compacts, rinses by cleaning liquid for removal of contamination and dirt from certain washable waste types, packages the waste material, and identifying the package with waste type and waste source by barcode marking. The automatic recycling machine is constructed as an appliance and includes separate fluid power actuation means for each type of recyclable material and non-recyclable waste, and control system to control the recycling process for each waste material type separately. The automatic recycling machine also comprises an operator control panel which includes warning indicators to inform on filled waste package of certain waste material type. According to the present invention, after the waste package is filled with sorted and processed waste material, it is automatically sealed, and then automatically removed from the automatic recycling machine. Furthermore, according to the present invention, the waste package is then automatically conveyed out of the household or commercial building by conveyor for waste material packages, located below floor level. The package is delivered to a external storage bin for multiple waste packages, located in the curbside or near driveway of the building, where it is automatically loaded into a storage container. Indication means are attached to the storage bin to provide information on the types of waste material packages which are stored in the storage bin, thereby preparing for central waste collection of sorted and bar-code marked recyclable and non-recyclable waste.

4638730 - Trash compactor - Owned by Phillips Home Products (Akron, OH)

A trash compactor is disclosed which has a wheeled bin within a trash compactor cabinet. The bin is adapted to contain a trash bag and the trash compacted therein and then may be withdrawn partially from the cabinet so that a handle may be inserted downwardly into vertical apertures in the front of the bin. A fixed pin and latches provide a reaction means to secure the handle in a downward position in the bin front, and this also secures the front wheels of the bin in a downward position of a lost motion between the front wheels and the bin. The wheeled bin may then be completely removed from the cabinet and wheeled to the disposal site. The container front may be unlatched and hinged forwardly and downwardly so that the trash bag may be pulled horizontally out of the wheeled bin for ready removal. In the return of the bin into the cabinet, the lost motion on the wheels permits the wheels to be moved upwardly so that the compaction forces are taken between the bin bottom and the cabinet base plate rather than on the wheels. The foregoing abstract is merely a resume of one general application, is not a complete discussion of all principles of operation or applications, and is not to be construed as a limitation on the scope of the claimed subject matter.

6708607 - Baling press comprising a tiltable compacting container, and method for operating the same

A baling press includes a tiltable container arranged underneath a vertically guided compacting ram within a compacting frame, wherein the compacting container is tiltable forwardly about a horizontal shaft. As seen from a front wall of the compacting container, the longitudinal axis of the horizontal shaft is positioned behind a frontal plane extending through the center of gravity of the compacting plane. A unit for a tiltable support of the compacting container arranged on the shaft is fastened directly on the compacting container or on the frame. A locking unit engaging the compacting container is provided on a back side of the compacting frame.

6141945 - Multi-unit automatic compacting, packaging, and disposal machine for plural materials

This present invention relates to a multi-unit, automatic machine for compaction, packaging, and disposal of plural types of material such as newspaper, plastic containers, glass bottles, aluminum cans, or other household and commercial waste. Each type of material is automatically processed in a separate unit and than separately packaged and sealed in a special bar coded bag, which is then disposed of the machine. The automatic recycling machine is constructed as an appliance and includes housing with inlet for each material type where material is inserted to a specific unit. The material is crushed and compacted as a movable container is moved upwards towards a static container thus reducing the volume of the material between them. The actuation system consists of double scissors member mechanism and pneumatic actuator connected in between members of the mechanism, thus amplifying the travel of the actuator. Alternate actuator type consists of gearmotor with lead screw as output shaft, which convert rotary motion to linear motion using a drive nut. The material is compacted within a special type packaging means which is inserted through an opening in the back of the machine and into a special guided slot, in which it is supported during the process. When the bag is filled, it is automatically sealed by means of two parallel bars, which are moving towards each other by means of pneumatic actuators. A seal is created along their contact line where the parallel bars meet each other by means of electrical heating elements. The package is then conveyed out of the machine as said movable container is moved upwards and the package is pushed down by said static container through a lower opening in said moveable container after that said opening covers are moved out by pneumatic actuators. The package is then conveyed out of the machine through a side cover of the housing by means of a conveyor. The control panel of the machine includes push buttons to override the automatic control of the compaction and package removal.
