Abstract
A display device disclosed herein includes a dot matrix type liquid crystal display panel capable of displaying not only digits but characters in the form of a matrix. Digit of character information is stored within a memory forming part of a CPU and shifted digit by digit or character by character while the display device is in operation. In other words, the digits or characters are shifting or running at each given length of time. The present device makes it possible of displaying numerals, characters, symbols and the like of a length more than the capacity of the display panel.

5126958 - Calculator equipped with notation converting function - Owned by Casio Computer Co., Ltd. (Tokyo,JP)

Binary notation data which have been stored in a memory of an electronic calculator are displayed in such a way that only the binary notation data having bit numbers smaller than the maximum display digits of the calculator are read from the memory. In this case, at the same time, another indication is made that which portion of the entire binary data stored in the memory is displayed.

4504829 - Electronic equipment - Owned by Casio Computer Co., Ltd. (Tokyo,JP)

Electronic equipment has a memory which stores input data to be displayed. The data read out from the memory is formed as a corresponding character pattern signal and is output from a character pattern generator. The character pattern signal generated by the character pattern generator is displayed in n characters at a display section in response to a first mode signal which is supplied by a mode switching section. The mode switching section supplies different display mode signals determined by the contents of the data to be displayed. The character pattern signal from the character pattern generator is displayed in m characters (n<m) at the display section in response to a second mode signal supplied by the mode switching section.

4373192 - Display device of an electronic language interpreter - Owned by Sharp Kabushiki Kaisha (Osaka,JP)

An electronic language interpreter is characterized by having a display device for displaying second words represented in a second language equivalent to a first word in a first language. When the data length of the second words exceeds the capacity of digits contained within the display device, the second words are displayed with shifting or running of the overall data on the display device. Separating means are associated with the display device for separating the second words in response to the presence of a particular mark such as a comma, a part of speech etc. The particular mark is allotted in a certain portion between the second words.

4472066 - Digital electronic timepiece - Owned by Citizen Watch Company Limited (Tokyo,JP)

A miniature digital electronic timepiece is disclosed which destroys time information in a continuously laterally shifting manner upon a matrix type display, such that more than one digit and less than two digits are visible at any particular instant. The category of information currently displayed, e.g. minutes or hours, is indicated by an identification mark, and the currently displayed digits can be halted and made completely visible, through size reduction, by actuation of a correction switch. Correction of the now stationary digits can then be accomplished by further switch actuation, so that time information correction is simple and rapid, even if only a single external operating member is utilized.

4389641 - Alphanumeric display - Owned by Sharp Kabushiki Kaisha (Osaka,JP)

A display device capable of selectively displaying numerical information or character information. During the mode wherein mainly characters are processed, a specific symbol (for example, a cursor symbol) is shifted digit by digit upon each actuation of a specific key (for example, a cursor key) and a character corresponding to the symbol display is also shifted. During the mode where numeral information is processed, on the other hand, numeral information or character information associated with said numeral information is selectively displayed upon actuation of the above specific key.
