Abstract
A toothed belt having an endless rubber band formed with projecting tooth portions, the rubber band having tension members buried in parallel therein. A cloth cover is fastened to the toothed surface of the band. The cloth is formed of woven fibers, and one of the warp and woof fibers of the cloth has a high-adhesive characteristic, and has a greater exposed surface area on one side of the cloth, which side is fastened to the toothed surface. The other of the warp and woof is formed of a fiber having properties suited for the working environment, such as properties of abrasion resistance and low friction, these latter fibers having a greater exposed area on the other side of the cloth, which other side is positioned for engagement with a toothed pulley.

4696429 - Elastic mat for a ballast bed underlayment - Owned by Clouth Gummiwerke Aktiengesellschaft (Cologne,DE)

A mat comprising an elastic material which serves as an underlay for a ballast bed of crushed stone, metallic particles, or the like is provided with a plurality of projections on its underside and with an upper layer of a material different from the elastic material. This upper layer on the upper side of the mat advantageously comprises a strong fabric. Particularly the upper layer may comprise a multilayered fabric with inlay layers of elastic material positioned between the individual layers of the multilayer fabric as well as a coverying layer of a softer material on the upper surface of the upper layer of the mat. The fabric of the upper layer of the mat advantageously comprises a water and rot resistant plastic material, such as a polyamide.

5171190 - Synchronous belt - Owned by Bando Chemical Industries, Ltd. (Kobe,JP)

A woven fabric for covering a tooth part formed on a belt body of a synchronous belt is woven with a lengthwise yarn and a widthwise yarn. The lengthwise yarn is made of a crimped yarn of synthetic fiber or a covering yarn in which a crimped yarn of synthetic fiber is wound around an elastic cord yarn. The widthwise yarn is made of a spun yarn of synthetic fiber or meta-linked type aromatic polyamide fiber. The widthwise yarn expose more to the woven fabric surface than the lengthwise yarn. Thus, the belt life is lengthened and the noise reduced.

4514179 - Power transmission belt with fabric cover - Owned by Uniroyal, Inc. (Middlebury, CT)

A power transmission belt having a plurality of teeth of elastomeric material positioned along a peripheral surface of said belt, each possessing a predetermined spring rate, and a fabric cover formed over the teeth and over the land portions between the teeth, said fabric cover cooperating with said teeth such that the spring rate of each fabric covered tooth is greater than 1.2 times and less than 3 times the spring rate of such tooth alone.

4632665 - Power transmission belt and method - Owned by Uniroyal Power Transmission Company, Inc. (Middlebury, CT) [*] Notice:The portion of the term of this patent subsequent to July 12, 2000 has been disclaimed.

A toothed, positive drive, power transmission belt of the type having an endless substantially inextensible tensile member to which are secured belt teeth having a curvilinear cross-section and covered by an outer non-stretch fabric cover. In the body of each tooth is a layer of fabric reinforcement separated from the outer cover fabric of the belt tooth and of the land region between belt teeth by a cushion layer of elastomeric material of varying thickness so that the outer tooth portions are free to flex while the inner portion of the tooth is reinforced against shear. The resulting construction provide belts having substantially longer belt life than conventional belts at relatively high horsepower application.

5609243 - Toothed conveying belt - Owned by Mitsuboshi Belting Ltd. (Nagata,JP)

A toothed belt having a body with a length, laterally spaced sides, an inside and an outside, and defining a plurality of teeth spaced in a lengthwise direction on one of the inside and the outside of the body. The body is defined at least in part by a rubber composition made up of at least an ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) and a diene rubber. A cloth layer is provided on the teeth on the one of the inside and the outside of the body. The cloth layer is treated with a resorcin-formalin-latex solution.
