A rifle having a stock, a receiver, a barrel, a trigger assembly, a magazine, and stock inserts forming mounting blocks for supporting the receiver in the stock. The magazine is a removable integral sheet metal member with inwardly turned longitudinal retainer flanges along the top rear edges of the side walls, a vertical internal retainer boss along each side wall spaced forwardly from the retainer flanges, cartridge case loading ramp edge surfaces along the top edge of each of the side walls of the magazine spaced from the longitudinal retainer flanges, and internal stops on the side walls for limiting the upward movement of a follower within the magazine. The stock inserts are longitudinally spaced mounting blocks having upper cylindrical surface portions fitting the cylindrical surface of the bottom of the receiver along the forward and back ends of the receiver and rectangular side, bottom, and end surfaces for mounting the stock inserts in rectangular cavities in the rifle stock.
An ergonomic adjustable gun stock having an elongate forearm portion with a longitudinal concave receiver channel in its upper surface for receiving the barrel of a gun, a butt portion extending rearwardly from the forearm portion, a vertically adjustable cheek piece, a longitudinally adjustable and removable auxilary hand gripping element on the underside of the butt portion, and an adjustable recoil butt pad assembly mounted on the rear end of the butt portion. The forearm and butt portions are generally rectangular polygonal configurations having a subtantially flat bottom surface and substantially flat opposed sides. The butt portion has a rounded top surface substantially parallel with its flat bottom surface. A thumb receiving aperture extends transversely through the butt portion near its forward end and defines a contiguous generally vertical handgrip portion adjoined to the forearm portion and a horizontal lower portion which also has a substantially flat bottom surface. The cheek piece is an inverted generally U-shaped member having a rounded top surface and contiguous laterally spaced parallel sides. The butt portion has a cheek piece receiving recess sized and shaped to slidably receive the cheek piece in a lowermost position, such that the outer periphery of the cheek piece is generally flush with the outer periphery of the butt portion in its lowermost position.
A firearm assembly includes a stock and an action secured to the stock. The action includes a receiver, a barrel, and a recoil lug that is positionable adjacent a bearing seat of the stock. Various fastener assemblies are provided to assemble the action to the stock with the recoil lug firmly seated against the bearing seat, thus providing longitudinal and torsional stability to the firearm assembly. There is further provided a stock having a bedding portion that includes a surface forming a channel in the bedding block. Either the channel or the receiver includes a number of ribs extending therefrom that support the receiver in the bedding channel when the action is secured to the stock. There is also provided a stock having an action mounting insert. A compressible member is provided between the action mounting insert and the stock.
