Abstract
An adapter for connecting in fluid communication a liquid dispensing syringe with the interior of a bottle containing a liquid, such as a liquid medication, includes a tubular body member composed of resilient material and being generally cylindrical in shape to fit snugly within the mouth of the bottle. Projections or beads are provided on the body member for engaging the inside surface of the bottle thereof in a continuous line of engagement therewith with a high pressure per unit area of engagement. An opening extends axially through the body member for receiving the nozzle of the syringe, and the opening includes a forward nozzle receiving portion and a rear portion. The axial length of the forward portion is substantially the same as the axial length of the nozzle so that the exit end of the nozzle terminates at the rear enlarged portion when the nozzle is inserted fully within the opening. A fluid pathway disposed at the rear portion of the opening for the adapter guides liquid to the forward nozzle receiving portion and prevents or minimizes the introduction of air into the attachment opening. In one form of the invention, the fluid pathway is in the form of an enlarged portion of the opening to prevent air from entering the syringe when the bottle is inverted to fill the syringe. In another form of the invention, the fluid pathway includes a one-way valve to minimize introduction of air while enabling liquid to be drawn into the adapter opening without the necessity of inverting the bottle.

4979630 - Ampoules - Owned by Waverley Pharmaceutical Limited (Runcorn,GB)

The present invention provides plastics ampoules made by the blow-fill-seal method which substantially overcome the problems of vacuum formation and touch contamination, during use, by providing one or more grooves in the neck of the ampoule to allow replacement of displaced liquid with air and/or a head sealed to the mouth of the opening by a frangible membrane and tapering up towards a grip away from the opening, and optionally a funnel leading to the neck, this funnel also assisting docking of the head of a syringe.

4784657 - Syringe-vial material transfer interconnector - Owned by Ceramed Corporation (Lakewood, CO)

An interconnect connects a vial to a syringe for the transfer of material to the syringe or back to the vial. The interconnect includes a vial connecting mechanism and a tapered sleeve to receive the syringe. A metering port allows control of the material transfer rate and prevents partial transfers which could cause material spillage.

5598939 - Bottle with closure element for receiving syringe and method therefor

A medicine bottle is formed with a neck that defines an opening and a closed bottom opposite the opening. A closure element is engaged with the neck to block the opening, and the closure element is formed with a fluid passageway. A fitting is positioned in the fluid passageway. The fitting is configured for receiving the hub of a needleless syringe, and a tube which has a proximal end is positioned in the bottle with the proximal end in fluid communication with the fitting. The tube also has a distal end disposed near the bottom of the bottle. Consequently, the syringe can be engaged with the fitting for drawing liquid from the bottle into the syringe without inverting the bottom of the bottle over the neck of the bottle, even when the bottle is nearly empty.

5620434 - Medicine vial link for needleless syringes

A link for use between a needleless syringe and a liquid medicine vial may be used equally well with both Luer lock and slip tip syringes. An adapter flange forms both an anchor for a conventional Luer lock and a receiving receptacle for a conventional slip tip syringe. The bottom end of the receiving receptacle is capped with a cylindrical sieve providing multiple fluid flow paths. The vial end of the link is formed with a pocket for collecting fluid when the vial is inverted. Two separate versions are provided, with one having a flip-top cap flush with the top of the medicine vial and the other having a twist-off top extending above the top of the vial. An outer jacket, surrounding the vial top is an optional variation on either version and provides for resealing of multiple dose vials. A valve automatically seals the vial to protect against loss of fluid and contamination of remaining fluid within the vial, in the event that the vial is overturned.

6056135 - Liquid transfer device to facilitate removal of liquid from a container by a syringe

A liquid transfer device for use in combination with a container and a syringe to facilitate removal of liquid from a container by the syringe includes an obstruction member positioned in an outlet of the container. The obstruction member has a concave inner surface facing the container interior to direct liquid to a passageway in the obstruction member when the container is inverted. A seal is formed between the obstruction member and the syringe spout and the spout is positioned by the obstruction member with the distal end of the spout located either in the passageway or projecting from the passageway toward the container interior and disposed closely adjacent to the inner surface of the obstruction member.
