Abstract
This troweling device for finishing wet concrete consists of a long, detachable handle assembly which is attached to a trowel or bull float blade by means of a pitch adjusting mechanism. This pitch adjusting mechanism allows the user to alter the angle of the blade in relation to the handle assembly while the trowel is in use by axially rotating the handle assembly. The pitch adjusting mechanism consists of a worm thread cylinder which is held in engagement to the geared portion of a geared support structure by a pivoting outer housing. This outer housing encloses the worm thread cylinder and pivots upon the geared support structure. The handle assembly is attached to the worm thread cylinder and the blade is attached to the geared support structure. Axial rotation of the handle assembly, therefore, causes the worm thread cylinder to be axially rotated and thereby advance and retreat along the geared support structure, thus changing the angle of the handle assembly in relation to the blade. All parts of the device are easily disassembled to enable the user to administer proper maintainance.

4520527 - Concrete finishing tool

A concrete finishing adapter is disclosed which enables a user to adjust the angle of a bull float or the like, which is adapted for connection to the adapter. The angle of the bull float is adjusted so that it does not gouge into the unset surface of concrete. The adapter includes a base plate, a yoke, a handle receiving member extending through the yoke, a braking sleeve inside the yoke through which the handle receiving member passes, and a rod which connects the handle receiving member to the base plate. Rotation of the handle receiving member in either a clockwise or counter-clockwise direction causes the rod to move the base plate relative to the handle so that the angle of incidence of the base plate (and attached smoothing plate) relative to the concrete surface, is adjusted so that, when the user pushes the smoothing plate away, the forward edge of the smoothing plate is tilted upward. When the user reverses direction of movement and pulls the smoothing plate towards himself, he then rotates the handle so that the rear edge of the smoothing plate is tilted upward.

4702641 - Multi-purpose concrete working tool - Owned by Atlanta Concrete Accessories Inc. (Mableton, GA)

A multi-purpose concrete working tool can be used to strike off, consolidate, finish, and check a concrete surface to produce a very flat or super flat surface. The tool consists of a rectangular, hollow extruded magnesium blade between 8 and 12 feet long with sharp edges at each side of the bottom working surface. An elongated handle is attached to the blade by means of a pitch adjusting mechanism and lateral braces. Rotation of the handle continuously varies the pitch of the working surface of the blade between 0 and 30 degrees in either direction with respect to the concrete surface without changing the elevation of the handle. The tool weighs in excess of 20 pounds, exerts more than 0.075 psi on the concrete, and has sufficient blade rigidity to be used to strike off and consolidate a concrete surface.

6227750 - Universal adjustable angle bracket for concrete leveling and finishing tools - Owned by Superior Featherweight Tools Company, Inc. (City of Industry, CA)

An adjustable tilting bracket for concrete finishing tools include a base plate, with an elongated slot in the bottom thereof, the slot being arranged to straddle a reinforcing rib on the tool. A yoke is pivotally mounted on the base plate and includes a cylindrical passageway in which a handle receiving member is located. A guide slot is formed in an upper arcuate portion of the yoke and cooperates with a stop member protruding from the handle receiving member to allow the handle receiving member to traverse an angle of about 180.degree., say from 3 o'clock to 9 o'clock, within the yoke. An actuating rod is pivotally mounted between the base plate and a caming ring secured to the forward end of the handle receiving member so that the base plate and a leveling/finishing tool secured thereto will pivot about an axis parallel to the tool's receiving slot. An adjustable braking element is carried by the yoke for exerting a frictional force on the handle receiving member for controlling the force required to rotate the handle receiving member to change the angle of the leveling/finishing tool relative to a concrete slab.

5333349 - Apparatus for patching a break in the sidewall of a chimney

Patching grout is forced into a break in the sidewall of a chimney by having the repairing person deposit a quantity of grout on the upper side of a trowel and move the trowel into a position immediately below the break. The trowel is pivot-ably mounted on the end of a linear handle and the trowel is raised into position on the handle. The upper side of the trowel is tilted toward the break by a cord extending from the trowel to the worker simultaneously with the worker pushing the handle upward to thereby mash the grout against the sidewall. Thereby the grout is pushed into the break as the trowel slides upward scraping against the sidewall.

5338128 - Drywall joint finishing tool

An apparatus (10) for adapting a drywall skim box (44) to an extension pole (16) to permit application of finishing compound to joints in locations remote from the user (54), such as in extended or high walls. The apparatus (10) includes a curved arm (24), one end of which is coupled to an extension pole (16) and the other end of which includes a mounting platform (38) for attachment to a skim box (44). The skim box (44) is both rotatably and pivotally coupled to the arm (24) for proper positing on a wall surface (58) to be finished. The geometrical relationship between the position of the skim box (44), the arm (24), and the extension pole (16) results in application of sufficient pressure to properly operate the skim box (44) as it is moved along a joint (56).
