A child restraining article is made up of a sheet of material which has two holes in it to receive a child's legs and also has tie tabs at its edges to be tied to a chair frame. It may also include an integral or detachable sheet with arm holes and tie tabs to be tied to the chair. In addition a bib may be integral with or detachably connected to the portion with arm holes in it.
A fabric support and restraint garment designed to safely and comfortably retain a person to a portable commode chair while providing proper body alignment. The device is constructed of a front torso panel with V-neck opening in the top and has a shoulder flap extension of the panel to the back. The torso panel is attached on the lower edge to a pelvic panel which covers only the front of the pelvic area. The pelvic panel contains two leg openings, located on the lower edge, which are created by the partial attachment of two rib knit leg bands. These bands are attached to the pelvic panel only on the top half, leaving the other half free to pass behind the thigh. Inadvertent removal of the garment by the wearer is prevented by four straps attached to the lower sides of the garment which are wound around the frame of the chair and tied behind the person on the shoulder flap extension.
A child safety cushion suitable for use in a wide variety of environments. The cushion is constructed from flexible padded material and includes a back portion, side bolsters and a seat portion. The cushion may be opened flat, and in use the side bolsters snap to the seat portion to form an upstanding chair-like cushion for supporting the child. A padded tee portion may be snapped to the seat portion and the side bolsters to restrain the child. Belts and straps are provided for holding the child and for attaching the cushion to an external object. The straps permit the cushion to be secured to a shopping cart with the child sitting up or an infant laying down. The cushion may also be secured to a chair even if the chair does not have any arms. In all cases, the child will be firmly supported along the sides.
A fall intervention garment adapted to secure a person to a tethered supporting structure is disclosed. The garment is generally in the form of a vest and includes an upper section and a lower section. The lower section is formed so as to be responsive to a load being placed on the upper section for generating an inwardly directed holding force about the person's torso area. Attachment ring are connected to the upper section for detachably connecting the vest to a support structure.
A child-restraining car safety seat usable by infants and children of varying sizes includes an outer pouch having leg and arm holes. Vertical anchor straps are securable around a car seat or to the vehicle frame and are releasably attachable to the pouch for holding the pouch in position against the seat. A generally horizontally extending torso strap loops around the anchor straps and the pouch. The armholes are sufficiently long to allow the straps to be inserted from behind into the sides of the pouch so that they may be applied directly around a child seated in the pouch. Also included is an inner pouch attached to the back of the outer pouch for accommodating a child or infant smaller than the largest child which can be accommodated in the outer pouch. The inner pouch is positioned such that the torso strap is in alignment with the torso of a child or infant held in the inner pouch. The torso strap is adjustable in different vertical positions to accommodate different sized persons using the safety seat. The range of vertical positions is limited by the use of loop-forming straps attached to the back of the outer pouch or by releasable snaps attaching the anchor straps to the back of the pouch.
